New motor is here! I had to pick it up at the terminal here in Vegas and then got it to the house.

I began transfer of the small items, pre-cats, vac lines and harness, etc

Pulled the plugs right off the bat and this motor ran super clean, im pleased with what i see so far. I pulled my pre-cats , plugs on the old motor and there was oil everywhere that motor is so done.

Cracked off the transmission off the old as well and then called it a night as the damn trans weighs as much as the damn motor so i id rather have a second set of hands to mate it to the new motor.

Ill have it in the car and running by the weekend. I mated the trans up to the new motor today, did the timing belt service, and finished putting all the small lines etc on it. Again my bro was working so doing that with just myself was a pita but its done and ready to go.

Tomorrow is clean up the damn garage day a little bit to prepare for the actual "drop" on Saturday morning.

I still need to go to the store and get oil, coolant, a new thermostat, and trans fluid but its coming along slowly since i dont have to rush on this with my bike to get around.

Began the actual drop at 10am Saturday morning. Ran into two snags one being me forgetting that i snapped a bolt on the front exhaust manifold/pre-cat when removing and i should have taken care of that Friday. So i have to run it to muffler shop to have that and the other two (why not) extracted and new ones put in ($30). That was the only thing keeping me from buttoning it up pretty quick, i mean i got completely cleaned up and went to eat and grocery shopping while killing time waiting for that thing.

Motor was completed and started up at 5:30 pm, which i had my friend take a video of on request but it came out choppy and with no sound. Its the first time i did a video that wasnt passed around on a cell phone as you get sound on the phone just not once its emailed. Maybe im doing something wrong, if somebody knows how to post these videos ill be happy to email it or even forward text it to you if you want to try for me. Either way the motor cranked over and started right up, as if the only thing that i did was an oil change. New motor is whisper quiet, and runs very good as i expected with such low mileage.

I didnt really take time to take pic while doing the work as i just wanted to complete the drop... so all i have is finished pics of pulling out the garage for the first time in 2.5 weeks.

Second snag i hit was about 20 minutes later when i was running the car in the garage and wiping up in the engine bay and cleaning it just died on me. The damn alternator took a dump with perfect timing of course. So i ran across town about 30 minutes to go get the only one i could find in town, brought it back and installed it. Shes been purring ever since. Washed her up and took her out proper the same night for drinks with friends at MGM.

Man, I probably couldn't change all the fluids in the amount of time you can drop in a motor.

Impressive and a very clean looking car.

I'm always amazed at other people's abilities to do such things. I wouldn't even know where to start.

Yes - very impressive work.
Hopefully, there's no next time, but if there is, consider setting up a video camera on a tripod. If it has a function to record 1 frame every so many seconds or minutes, you can record a very long time span into a relatvely short video. Makes a somewhat humerous look back at all of the steps involved.

We used to do this when setting up the Christmas Tree.

Thanks for the help with the video Islandsnowz, that was pretty cool of you.

It was recorded with my buddies Iphone 3G and i knew it was dookie bootie but lordy that sucks.

Car is running well. need to buy a few small things like a new idler pulley, and OEM intake boot since mine is cracked but overall it was very successful. Ill repaint my bumpers within the next month or so, till then i dabbed color on my bumper boo boo.

Holy shit nice, it took me three days just to replace all the fluids in the car.

Also this would have been a good time to do a pre-cat delete or high flow pre-cat!

No mods for me, i wont even put an intake on my car as i want it to stay quiet when i ride. All those engine mod parts were back in my days of racing far far in the past.

holy crap!!! AMAZING. man you have some mad ass skills. like many say it takes about the same or more time just to do fluids.

I have to give you mad props. now if that ever happens to me i will fly you out myself to VA and help me with mine... but lets knock on wood. that dont happen.

question.. are you using spacers for the rims? they look like the old maximum rims. from 06-07.

oh by the way car looks great...

Check AutoZone. They have all sorts of similar piping for intakes.

Maxima? I thought the same thing when I saw them on the RL at the meet with Slammed TL.

They are 19" ZDX wheels.

Amazing work man!

Since we're on the topic of the ZDX wheels, OP, did you have to use spacers to make them work? Or where they just bolt on? I know they are 45mm offset and factory is 55mm.

Something tell me there is going to be about a dozen threads of people posting pics of their car on ZDX wheels in the coming months.

I have had more PM's about these wheels than anything.
