My 18 yr old daughter decided to take the car out at 5am without my knowledge. Slide on some black ice and hit a dirt embankment, thankfully she wasn't hurt. Paid $12,090 March 2016, Geico gave me $6816. With $500 deduct.

Glad that no one was hurt!
It really depends on how many miles did the car have... if higher mileage insurance companies will always punch the pay-out amount down.

$7300 is a tad low for the RL market when comparing to other RL with similar mileage, I thought they might give you at least $8500. Unfortunately most of the damage like this most likely cost $6k-$7k in repair bill (book wise) where it automatic total the vehicle and the airbag deployed was also a big factor as no one want to held reliable for the replacement of the airbag.

Depends on the year though, I didn't see what year this one is?

Sad that this happened man! At least your daughter is safe, and the car did it's job!

RL09, the second airbags go off, the cost of repair skyrockets. My friends old G35 coupe got totaled out when he spun it into a parked car. Body damage was 4K, but the side airbag deployment drove it past it's book value of 8K at the time.

2005, This was all new news to me, regarding airbag deployment. Mind you I just had the recal done in August.. I was under the impression you simply replace the airbag and fix the body damage?

Reason why its so expensive because however fix it will have to buy a new airbag that certified by the car manufacture and even then if some how the airbag fail to deploy after the "fix" there are too much "pointing finger" to who should be responsible.

nice, I see that you like the KB1 so much that you end up get another one. RL is the first Acura has ACE structure frame that explained why they did the job so well to protect the occupant.

OP, very sorry for your loss and I know the feeling. Last year around September I totaled my '06 RL. Airbag also deployed and fortunately no one was hurt. I can also understanding why you decided to replace it with another RL....few cars even today can match the RL in terms of luxury, reliability, power, safety, and comfort.

Current carbon Grey replacement

Changed the armrest, faulty change tray, 12V and wood grain shifter, will do the steering wheel this week.. Got a clean bill of health from the dealership yesterday. However got the check emission light after getting gas, tightened the gas tank cap and had the code reset. Hopefully it doesn't come back.
Sorry about the pics not sure why they keep showing up sideways

WOW! Great deal and car. How did you find the wood kit, shifter and steering wheel so quickly and does yours have the rear deck spoiler?

I took the Gear Shifter and the Steering Wheel off the white Car. And yes my car does have the spoiler, also ordered the leather drivers side arm rest from ebay.
