You should be fine unless you are not trying to swap to the 6 speed out of the newer Rl

Is that even possible without major re-work?
I would love to have 6spd on my 06 and in the case of the trans replacement / rebuilt needed I would definitely want to consider that option.
Something tells me there are other bits and pieces to consider modifying, replacing, reprogramming (ECU confirmed)... etc...

I actually think I read it on here that someone swapped to the 6 speed transmission and it was a bold in swap minus the electronics part. Definitely something you could look into when looking into pricing on a rebuild to a whole 6 speed swap

There's been mention of doing the 6spd auto swap but I doubt anyone has pulled the trigger on it. Would definitely be interesting though.

Don't do it!

Best advice I can give you. The 5AT drives way better than the 6AT.

I love my 2011 but the 6AT is my biggest pet peave. If you read through the forums and check out all the complaints about it, you won't regret sticking with the 5!

My wife's '13 TL FWD works great in the combo 6spd AT and 3.5L engine... however, it is a completely different car vs RL SH-AWD - so, definitely not planning to replace it, was considering an option though in "what if" scenario - thanks much!
