replace hid light on driverside....

Do I have to remove front bumper or can I just take battery out and get my hand in to replace bulb. I do not want to give dealer 300.00 to replace a $30.00 bulb in my 05 rl. Has anyone done it and how hard is it? This is the hid low beam bulb....

Remove the wheel, then remove the linning n plastic covers. U will have better access from the wheel wel than from the top.

Hmm - have not heard of replacing through the wheel well. Is it a straight shot that way?

You can do it from the top by removing the battery. Its a mostly blind operation and tight squeeze. Stuff rags under and behind light assembly in case you drop bulb.

Search and you can find lots of threads on this

Did the passenger side through the wheel well, took 5 mins. U have direct line of sight. I assume should be the same for driver side.

5 min? C'mon. You couldn't get your jack, lift the car, loosen lugs and remove the wheel in 5 min.

You HAVE to do this procedure on the 350Z. It is a pain in the ass, but mostly because of how tight the back cover of the light assembly was on.

5 mins after having the wheel removed and the pins that hold the plastic covers.

You can also do it (from the top) without disconnecting the battery. I did, but it took some time and some patience.

Also, if you have to replace one bulb, you might as well do both. Start with the passenger side, as it's the easiest and will give you a good idea of what to expect on the driver's side (since much of it will be by "feel" if you decide to leave the battery connected).

^ Yes, you can remove the battery tie down and slide it about 4" towards the engine without disconnecting any wires.
