Removal of top speed governor on RL?

Does anyone know how/who might remove the top speed governor on 05 RL? I believe it is 137 mph.

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure its in the ECU, not so easy to just "remove"

There is a chance the RL is drag limited at that speed as well, there is not much you can do about that unless you want to change the body panesl

I don't know, but do you really plan on going above that? I don't even know where I could get away with that safely.

Thanks. I did get my CL-S up to 145 mph couple of times. I would not recommend this, but I am just wondering if it is possible to remove it.

I see no point in removing it but I would be interested in what the max speed of the RL would be without the governor

I thought the max speed was set at 147mph. Nevertheless with stock tires, about 120 is all I care for.

Personally I think the tranny and AWD system would fry at more than 130 for any length of time. It would be fun, however, to find a good engine out of a totaled RL and mod it into an old CRX si.

I drove my 99TL at above 130 for about 2 hours and 157 for about 10 minutes, all in one trip. Nothing is going to fry. All I know is that when the legend comes out here in europe it will not have a speed limiter, so maybe then you can do a ECU swap. I think the there is an aftermarket ECU with no speed limiter.

bitium,

I expect you to take one of those Legends and report what its true top speed is

I'd guess this car could hit 155mph.
