So apparently this recall is expanding... Again.... LA Times reported it might even double in size and Takata is expected to make a statement today. Am I the only one who thinks Takata will go bankrupt as a result of this?

Its expanded a few times already even more concerning is if they throw in towel before they cure their issues, then what?

1st I got a Hyundai Accent

But since my car was an RL and I couldn't actually see out the rear window of the accent (think submarine window)...I went back and they gave me a Ford Fusion (better but not like my smooth ride). Everyone is using the verbage long term rental. Let's hope not. I only drive my car in the summer and would like it fixed asap. In the meantime it sits in my garage as I swore in writing I would not drive it. Stand by for repair update

I got a Volkswagen Passat on April 1st. I was told the same thing everyone else is posting that it would be mid summer before the part would be available. My dealer called me last Friday and said that the part was available. I had them tow my car to the dealership. I was surprised it only took 29 days to get the part in.

I don't think I could voluntarily give up my car for a rental for any longer than a week.

Nice!! I've driven the charger before, sweet car! I just prefer GM products to be honest lol. That's why I picked the Impala. I have a soft spot for GM because my dad worked for them lol

This Charger is amazing, has heated cloth seats, the big 8in touch screen headunit, leather wrapped wheel, led fog lights and headlights. Oh! and remote start :P Can't wait to take it out of town this weekend.

Had a 2016 V6 Camry for the past month now. That thing is nice for a daily driver. My dealer didn't give me any hassle about leaving my car on their lot, it's been sitting my garage for the past month.

Just received a call from the dealer as well telling me to come in next week to get my inflator replaced since they have the part now. I wanted to have the rental until after summer too, but oh well it was good while it lasted..lol.

FYI, I'm in the Western region (California) so not sure if it makes a difference.

Been driving this HEMI V8 Dodge Charger R/T for quite some time now. (Originally was given a Black Charger SE, but traded it in for this one when I had to come in at the 30 day mark to resign the rental contract) Really nice car, but i'm ready to get back into my Acura. This thing drinks up way to much gas!! haha. Currently still waiting for the call here in the Bay Area.

I'm also still waiting for the call. I'm actually pretty content to drive my X3 rental around these days.

I actually spoke with Enterprise and the guy up there was very nice, told him I wanted to swap my 2016 Charger SXT for the R/T and he told me to call on Thurs and Friday and he'd hold the keys for me.
Acura also told me it would be about another month or two before they can get my car in.

Y'all are lucky...no cars around here to rent. Enterprise is stretched real thin. Waiting on a car.

I unfortunately have been driving a 16 Hyundai Accent for the last month as I'm in north Texas and we've been pounded by hail storms so Enterprise is insanely busy. I'll try this week to see if I can swap my Accent for something else.

I'm in north Texas as well. I had no issue getting a decent car. Just pull up the the branches that you see that has cars in the vicinity of the Acura dealer . Tell them you need a rental from Acura.

Charger isn't a Premium it's a Fullsize. For our car's the dealership will most likely authorize only a midsize or fullsize. Atleast my dealership did anyway.

It didn't require any real arguing on my part. In fact, the manager at Enterprise asked what kind of car I was getting fixed, and when I told him "RL" he said he'd get a rental that is of similar quality. I think the X3 was a little over budget, but he made a call to the service manager at the dealer and approved it instantly.

Hey I see your from San Jose! Was the BMW X3 on the lot already when you came to get the rental? or did you have to request it? I assume you went to the Enterprise off of Stevens Creek? I used to have a BMW 5 series before my RL, would be nice to drive a Bimmer again...

I broke the Sonata, so I got to pick between a Ford Fusion or a VW Passat Wolfburg. I went with the Turbo . Decent car but still not that nice. Whats messed up is that a guy I work with had a 93 Corolla that had the recall and they put him in a New Toyota Avalon. SMH.

The X3 was actually being used by a customer when I got to Enterprise, so I had to take a crappy Chrysler minivan for about 3 days until the X3 got returned. I didn't specifically request an X3 but just asked for something nice and more high end. Couple years ago I had a fender bender (other guy's fault) and got a 328i from Enterprise. But the manager said he would hold it for me. My usual dealer is Los Gatos Acura, so I went to the Enterprise office near there. It's a small office, but surprising they have a good number of higher end cars. They told me that their inventory is way down due to all the long term renters from Acura, about 60 just from that dealer.

You are aware that both of those vehicles are turbo.... Right?

The Fusion has the Ecoboost and the Passat has a 1.8 TSI.

I know but 9/10 Fusions from Enterprise are Ecoboost. The 2.5 Fusion would be like the bare bones Fusion. Out of all my years of working with Enterprise I only saw I think 3 that were not the Ecoboost. Unless you count the previous gen of course then none of them had the Ecoboost lol

Might be DFW Airport lol, generally the airports gets the nicer cars and those eventually make their way to the local branches. Every now and then there might be a special request from someone who is well known and they'll pull the car and reserve it for the specific person. Once that person is done with it they generally will keep the car unless they have no use for it and will swap it out for a car they could actually use.

Unfortunately it doesn't work the other way around where someone say like you and I would call and request a specific car they won't go out of their way just to get said car just for some random customer.
Places like Enterprise really focus towards the people who have money because they know if they give them what they want they'll keep coming back where as people who might rent once from them they won't bend over backwards for that one person.

Kind of the same scenario at Hertz which is where I currently work now, however we'll actually try to locate a vehicle a customer might request and we'll actually reserve that specific vehicle for them unless they miss their reservation. Unlike Enterprise it's first come first serve, they have a strict policy on not holding a specific car for a customer unless it's someone of significance.. Pretty shitty really, but that's why I left Enterprise and went to Hertz.

We deal with Caliber Collision on a daily basis but Enterprise has a contract with them so they have branches in the Caliber Collision offices, so if we have a customer who is waiting for pickup the Enterprise guys will try to steal our business. It happens quite often and it's really frustrating.
