Recall time
Ok, so the day after I bought my 09 RL, which was Friday, a recall has been issued by Acura Canada ON RLs from 05 to 12 I think. Also affected are ILX, RDX and MDX and I think I saw RLX on that list.
I just saw it at the dealer, it's not out yet. I believe it is on the driver airbag.
Incidentally, my wife tells me she just saw a light come on saying CMBS Airbag in orange.
Now, given I just got this car, it's not a way to start a relationship.

Any more info on this recall? I haven't heard of any news regarding my 06 RL. You can input your VIN on this site for recall information. None of my cars are showing any open recalls.

I wouldn't sweat it. I mean, a recall is generally the best option you can get- parts and labor are free for you and you get something faulty repaired on your car. What more can a guy ask for?
That being said, I wonder if it's because the cars you listed have those Takeda airbags that like to shoot jagged metal into peoples faces when they go off... And that's not exactly Honda's/Acura's fault. They, like many manufacturers, get the airbag system from a third party.

Coincidentally, the airbag lights came on today. my guess is this isn't this particular recall related light.
I'm going for a drive dammit, gonna see if light's still there

Your gonna be waiting a while for the recall parts. My M5 I am still waiting and was announced in May. I just think theyre scrambling for parts to "fix" everything impacted and its A LOT.

My Tundra is "affected". I got the letter sometime last year with a "DO NOT drive your vehicle with a passenger in the front seat until the recall has been addressed." Still haven't done anything about it though. Probably should.

My dealer just confirmed the recall work on my car may very well take place in June.

Get the battery volt tested, this crap happened to me before. If the battery passes volt test, it is the SAS sensor. Someone else on the forum had a similar problem, he got it solved by looking at the SAS sensor. DONT TRUST THESE GUYS, dont run out to replace battery when u might not need to.

I am unable tho to open 09-025, says im not allowed to view it.
The steering sensor ... the right side head beam does turn right when i steer right, but nothing happens when i steer left. normal? is this an indication of faulty steering sensor?
The 'check airbag system' , check CMSB and check ACC are coming on together, arbitrarily; but for the most time, they are off. I just turn off and re-ignite, they are gone.

That is normal behavior for the AFS while stopped. Not aiming the lights left keeps you from shining them into oncoming traffic at a stop light.
In order to view the TSB, follow the "IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS" just above the links. I had to use my best spy sluething to figure it out.

btw, I read from some that they set the distance using ACC, but cmsb still isn't working except when one is up very close. I think that's how cmsb works, only ACC works from a distance you set, but CMSB has it's own distance calculations that driver cannot change.

I got a constant airbag light on now, the one just below the Hazard button, with an airbag 2 written on it, it lights: OFF now... is this recall related? if not, what is it?

Is there something in your passenger seat? If the seat detect weight between 10-80 pounds (complete guess), it will assume a small child could be sitting there and will disable the air bag to protect them.
If nothing is in the seat, my guess is that your weight sensor isn't working correctly.

Latest news:
No airbag fixing is happening anytime soon. There seems to be a major lawsuit on this and Acura isn't replacing them for another year at least.

This is from Honda Takata airbag recall website Fact Sheet in Feb 2016, nothing more current posted there
Parts Supply Outlook
For more than a year, Honda has worked to secure an increasing supply of replacement inflators from Daicel, Autoliv and TRW. We continue to expand the supply from these other suppliers, and in the foreseeable future, we will be able to replace recalled inflators using only inflators from these other suppliers.
At this time, Honda has no replacement inflators on backorder for the recalls announced before February 2016. Thus, there should be no significant delays for a customer seeking repair under those actions. Replacement parts for the recall announced in February 2016 are expected to be available in the summer of 2016.

For those who have a safety concern about driving their car with an open recall, call American Honda, give them your VIN and express a safety concern. It seems they are willing to provide alternate transportation until parts are available.

Has anyone had any luck getting "alternative transportation"? I'm guessing they don't give you the 2016 MDX service loaner...

My case is still in the works, bur I've read on this forum of people getting said alternate transportation. That being said, alternate transportation in Honda's mind seems to be a rental of some flavor.

06 RL - airbag recall (rental car question)
I contacted my local dealership and I was informed that parts will not be available until late summer this year: option is to get the rental car which they were only able to confirm will be "full-size" sedan based on what I currently have.
Question: did anyone contact Client Relations to inquire if the Full-size rental car can be premium or luxury category?
Enterprise has full size sedans Altima, Charger, etc - which are nowhere near 06 RL in terms of comfort, features, etc.
I plan to call them, but wanted to check with you guys if anyone is in the same boat?
Dealer did advise not to drive the car believe it or not...

Wow, there going to pay for a rental for that long? Guess the loaners can only be out for a short period of time. Did you ask if you could get a Acura loaner? Usually, they're all over giving loaners out, especially since your car is 10 years old. They like to give loaners out so they can try and get you to buy a new car when you return it. At least out here they do.
I think with a dealership and a rental company like Enterprise, it's whatever they get the cheapest. Although, I'm sure Acura has a discount with enterprise.
