Not having fun.

left the car to remove bumper and change the high beams, they called to tell me there's a leak on the front left. I went and touched the liquid, its dark, but not oily necessarily.... its as if its half oil half water..

And it's quite a puddle...

Could something have gotten nicked while removing the bumper? it's quite the coincidence to happen on that same day. I had seen no such leak before..

Any ideas what could that be?

air conditioning condensation?
power steering fluid?
coolant mixed with oil?

if it's a dark fluid like oil, it may be power steering fluid

You will have to go under the car and check for the leak source, I would say either the rear main seal or ATF BUT you have to check the source first.

what does it taste like? Sweetish = coolant.

There was a hose loose and they re-tightened it. They are saying the automatic transmission coolant.

Makes any sense?

My bet is also it got loose while removing the bumper...?

they probably loosen the hose to ATF cooler line or knock it off during removal process (I don't know why they touch it in the 1st place)

Will I need to fill ATF or coolant?

I am myself wondering how that got loose... I don't know if its close enough to the bumper or if there's another reason this happened. They actually informed me of it before removing the bumper but after the spent a weekend there doing some body work.

I had the same leak due to failing radiator fitting where the transmission fluid line goes in...
The radiator was under warranty so they replaced it at my local shop... interestingly this leak started on my car shortly after I had "all fluid special" service done at the dealer... just sayin'

Note: If it is the same issue, and you need to replace the radiator do make sure that mechanic / the dealer uses brand new fittings - if they re-use the old ones (because they look new) it will leak again... then they will have to replace radiator once again...

Just had my tranny and transfer oils changed...

Well, the guy at the body shop tightened the fitting..

My question is do i need to refill coolant or fluid somewhere?

And how do you know if that radiator is failing?

Also, im assuming that's a different radiator than the engine one?
