Poll: DRL HID 10k or DRL PIAA SUPER PLASMA GT-X
Here's the scoop:
I bought a kit 10k HID and 55w PIAA SUPER PLASMA GT-X to use as Daytime Running Lights.
Problem with HID is that it blinks when used as DRL and works fine with high beam.
So the question is:
Do I use the purplelish hologens for drl/high beam or do I go with HID, eliminate drl and use regular low beams during the day, and have HID high beam as an option?
An added bonus of HIDs is that they flicker when on low beam so you can scare people at night :-) I'm sure it's also illegal...
Please let me know your thoughts as I plan to go with one or the other soon.

No vote, just think about what you want to see, which is, after all, the purpose of the lights. If the decision is a style issue then just choose what you want instead of having others decide for you.
No hate.

I can't believe you would even consider the purple GTX bulbs, but I think you'll see why after you fire them up at night. Or, right after you get a ticket for them.

Yes...now that I've seen purpleish bulbs on my car I am thinking...WHAT WAS I THINKING?
My TL has HID high beams, I expected similar results from 55w which were said to create 110w of power...WHAT A JOKE!
When my RL uses Hi Beams it turns off my fogs...well...the PIAA GT-Xs are absolutely invisible when used with regular HIDs.
I had to park my car next to the wall to notice the slighest change in light.
As far as being purple light...that's another joke. These lights have a purple tint on them, but they are far from HID purple that a cop would pull you over for.
Comparing to regular halogens I'm sure these PIAA are uber, but compared to HID, much el crapo.

If you want brighter high beams, you want the HIR: halogen infrared reflecting. These ARE brighter, and a lot. If you search on here for "Lighting Upgrades" or "HIR" you'll find some threads including one where I detail my installation of HIR's, where to get them and some comments by others. It's a simple job if you've already figured out how to fit your hand in there to swap out the OEM high beams.
However, the color of the light is just plain old "yellowish" halogen. I actually like it, because the hybrid spectrum thrown out in combination with the HID low beams is really good.
