Outright purchase price and lease price on 2007 RL

My lease is almost up with my 2004 TL. I was just offered a purchase price for the 2007 Tech RL of $45,436- <+ $499 over invoice/destination fee>. 7% tax has to be added and there's a Document fee, 3 year MV fee, and a tire tax- total equals $449.50. I've purchased an MDX and leased a TL from this dealer within the last 3 1/2 years so I'm dealing directly with General Sales Manager. What do you folks think about the price? Any chance that Acura will be offering cash back in the the next 2 months- don't need a new ride until the end of April/beginning of May.

42 lease rate is awful: $759/month with 15K miles/year. Residual 44%; money factor .00196.

I can lease an equivalent CBMS/PAX RL for a M35X- Advance Technology/Technology packages for less than $675/month- if serious I could negotiate that down a bit.

Both rates are with no money down: Bank fee, first month lease fee, MV & Docs fee.

My main concern is the low residual value of the RL.

I want to know the market price of the '07 RL with CMBS/PAX too in South Cali OC area. I got offer for invoice price. ~47K. Should i buy it now or wait for cash back? My dealer treat the RL like hot cake.

I'd wait if you can in both cases...American Honda has been known to extend leases on a month-to-month basis so the '04 TL might not have to go back to the dealer just yet. (Good thing you leased--used car managers call that color "no-sale green"!) Those RL lease rates are stinky. Don't lock into a 42 month lease if you can do otherwise.

Shouldn't be too much longer until there is some Acura marketing support (= cash rebate) on the 2007 RLs. Perhaps as soon as Memorial Day, certainly by summer. My 2006 RL was $11.5K under MSRP including $4K factory cash, but then I waited until December to bite...

Good luck!

My Acura dealer called me earlier this evening and is now willing to sell me the RL TECH for $200 under invoice- RL base for $500 under invoice. They must have just gotten word that they're getting cash back from ACURA for March. Lease rates are still very uncompetitive.

I'm wondering what a 2007 tech package should go for in the southeast.

Acuralvr1, so you're being offered an '07 Tech at under $45K (+TTL)?

My dealer has the exact model I want arriving in two weeks, so they should be motivated to unloadd it with little hassle.

Yes- $44,737- including destination charge. TTL is extra.

Hold that checkbook!

Sure enough, Neuronbob is right--he mentioned this in another thread. The $3500 "marketing support" is in effect 3/1/07 through 4/30/07 on all models of the 2007 RL. Confirmed via a well known automotive website.

Since invoice on the so-called "tech package" (last year's base) is $44,937, the dealer should now be able to go $3-3.5K under that without batting an eye. You want to be paying less than $42K + TTL for that car for sure.

As it says on the other car website, "dealer participation may vary." Sounds like they're varying all right.

Since I received tha phone call from the dealer on 3/1 I assumed they were getting cash back- they did say there was a promtion going until 4/30/07. This suits me find since my TL lease is up in early May.

Where might I find info about the $3500 "marketing support" effort? Which Neuronbob thread? Thanks for the post!

Go here and enter your Zip code to get to the incentives:

http://www.edmunds.com/incentives/Re...centives.1.1.*

$3500!!! That seems pretty early for an incentive that large.

Thanks for the info. I looked at and 07 tech yesterday. I was in a wreck 7 days ago in my 07 MDX and it rolled. Now I want to sit lower to the ground. I hope the dealer will work with me. I am just not sure what to expect to pay. The MDX 60 days ago was not a great deal because they are selling without discounts. Any thoughts or suggestions for this purchase would be appreciated.

I am guessing very low to mid 40's depending on what you get.

Pricing on all models of the 2007 RL should be $3000 to $3500 under invoice due to the factory-to-dealer incentive announced yesterday. The dealer also gets a holdback of 3% x MSRP so don't feel too sorry for them.

Don't deal with a regular sales person--contact the fleet or internet manager by phone or email and ask them for their no-BS lowest price. If they want your business they will not jerk you around.

You can get invoice and incentive info on this or any car from edmunds.com. (Didn't know if it was OK to state or link to the URL here.)

Best of luck!

I'm playing the dealerships against each other right now, started the bidding at 41.7k for a rl with tech package and got one dealer to bite, I will now solicit a second quote from their competitor and see if i can get 41k.

Strong work!! Now just remember to be Nancy Reagan when you get to the F&I (Finance and Insurance) office. That's where they try to recoup their lost margin by selling you LoJack, extended warranties, polishes, etc., etc.

JUST SAY NO!!!

Great info, thanks.

Today, I'm going to one dealership that offered me an extended test drive for the weekend. However, I think I'll try and be clear about my pricing expectations before the test. Don't want them holding that over me.

For sure the thing to resist is the extended warranty and all the other stuff they push at closing.

Offered $42.6K- inlcuding destination- for a Tech RL from a dealer other than the one I've bought 2 Acuras from. I'll see what my "home dealer" has to say. Only extra costs are MV fees, Doc fees and NJ sales tax of 7%.

Just picked my '07 w/tech package (no other accessories) for $42K including destination charges.

Vehicle only had 3 miles and was still 'under wraps' with all the shipping plastic when I inspected before final offer.

Of course, they prepped it real nice before I drove off. Although they did have the tires overinflated to 50 pounds

Great car, good deal.

2007 RL Trade

Went to my dealer in huntsville Saturday the 3rd of March to trade my 2005 Rl Tech w/ 29k and he hit me first @ 20,800. Walked he called back and hit me @ 16,800. No Thanks. I got on line Monday found out about the dealer money. Call the Dealer in Chattanooga TN (he did not know about the money yet and said he would check) told them if we could trade for 12,500 I would do the deal. He said he would have to look at my car and check about the dealer money and he would call back. Called back and said he but thought it could be done. Went down to the Acura store in Chat Monday and traded for a carbon blue pearl 07 RL with tech for 11,500.00 Difference. I think I got a great deal.

There is a 3500 dealer cash on the RL now. It will last until 4/30/07. I think that the RL will get a mid year refreshening per my zone manager. I think that is why they came out with dealer cash so early.

Clinger,

That sounds like a great deal. Assuming you had the car for two years you basically got the same deal as someone leasing the car for 479/month for two years at 15K/yr. I guess that is a little better than 759/month lease described above (like about $6400 better). I guess purchasing and trade is more of a gamble as to what the real depreciation will be and whether the car you want is going to be discounted as heavily as the RLs are currently.

4/07 purchase price for 2007 RL w/Tech Pkge

Just purchased a 2007 RL w/tech pkge at a Boston dealership. After reviewing edmunds.com discussion and discussion here, I was aware of the April incentives and was able to negotiate a price of $ 40,730, exclusive of taxes, document and registration fees. Also bought a 6 yr/120K Acura extended warranty for $ 1000 (list is about $ 2000). Sales manager acknowledged that April had been very slow month because of bad weather here in Boston and that he was anxious to move some cars off his inventory.
Lessons learned: find out incentives available on Edmunds.com and buy towards the end of the month. I suspect also that April is always slow because people have just paid their taxes.

That was a great price. You done good.

That car invoices w/delivery for 44936. The dealer kickback incentive on it this month is $3500. Their holdback is hard to predict because it is based on marketing costs and varies by region, however, figure about $1200 at most. This means dealer cost was about $40200.

He made about $500 on you plus any BS administrative fees he added onto the contract (usually about $500-$600). He probably made about $1000 on the whole deal. Hardly worth doing the paperwork. He must have really been in a bind with his quota this month. Congrats on a great deal.

Sounds like a great deal to me. I'm in the process of negotiating an 07 RL with Tech Package for $42K and am paying list price for some accessories. Unfortunately, they're having to truck the car (platinum frost/ebony) in from Colorado, so I'm effectively paying for that transport.

In another interesting twist, my sales guy now tells me it may be Tuesday before it gets here and doesn't seem to care that Tuesday is in May... perhaps the dealer incentive has been extended past 4/30?

You don't need to take delivery for the dealer to show it as "sold". It's not technically proper procedures but dealers do it all the time. All he needs to do to get the $3500 check from Acura is to be sure he RDR's the vehicle by Sunday.

Once he submits a Retail Delivery Record and burns that VIN, the vehicle is considered "sold" by Acura. I assume you signed the paperwork already and have "purchased" the car. If not, the dealer would be taking a bit of a risk that you aren't going to bail out on the deal.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I have a $500 deposit, but wrote it without any form of contract. Monday's still the 30th, so I'm guessing I'll get her then.

Anybody care to claim the highest / lowest price paid for an 07 RL?

Well, the dealers gambling a bit. He must be desperate for this deal. However, this scenerio your describing happens a lot also. It's not that unique but less typical.

Don't feel bad about the price. You probably did the best you could in this situation. Doing a deal on a trade is NOT much fun for a dealer. Lots of paperwork for the dealer. He's also gotta worry that the other dealer he's trading with is sending him a straight car and not one that has some minor body damage, etc.

You loose a lot of your leverage when you can't point at a car sitting on their lot (costing them interest payments) and say "give me that one". We're all guys in the car business (most of us). Us guys can't seem to get excited unless we see our "prey" within striking distance! That's why the best way to buy a car and get a great deal is to walk into a dealer with your checkbook and say "I'm a buyer, not a shopper, showing me what you got." Boy, you'll get the salesmens attention. Then, when you can point at a car on their lot and say I'll buy that one RIGHT NOW -- and pull out your checkbook -- then that's the moment you're in the drivers seat (pun intended) and should start your negotiations.

If your situation had been what I just described then , I would have said you could have done better, however, feel good about the deal and your great new RL. Congrats!

Is this a good deal?

I just made a deal for an 07 RL w/ Tech and CMBS/PAX for $46,487. That price includes accessories and destination charge.
Did we get a good deal? Or could we have gotten it lower?

Thanks for the feedback!

Not sure what accessories you got, but regardless that sounds like a very good deal. Sounds like you got all the dealer money plus a near invoice price. I just bought an '07 CMBS myself. Paid 45k even plus about $2900 of accessories for total cost of $47900. I consider that a great deal and was very happy. You should feel the same

Got an even better deal

The dealer called us back and because we were willing to switch colors and not have to ship the car from another dealer we got the price down to $43,472 including all accessories excluding splash guards!

Most excellent price. You got it well under invoice. According to my quick (and fallible) mental calculations, the dealer only kept a few hundred of the holdback. Probably a "quota car" seeing that it's the end of the month.

Welcome to the family!

Sounds like they went in the whole on this deal

$48337 - 3500 = $44837 - $1200 hb (guess) = $43637.

You win the gold star Dashboard. I've never seen that happen. How much were their "administrative" fees? Typically a dealer will hit you up for another $6-800 of that crap. However, that money goes straight upstairs. The SM usually has NO ability to dip into that.

What were the exact accessories you got thrown in with that price?
