OEM exhaust system: Problems? Prices?
Not talking aftermarket or mods, only about age-induced failure and replacement. Just idly thinking about the systems in an older car that are naturally subject to failure. Obviously an exhaust system is one of them.
I seem to recall our exhaust systems have some kind of trick baffle in them. Presumably that would drive up the cost of replacement parts. I know all modern OEM exhausts use stainless steel, not the old Midas garbage can galvanized, to make them durable enough to last throughout the life of the emissions warranty, which drives up the price of a replacement. I'm sure the Acura name drives up ours still more.
Has anybody had a failure, and do you have any experience exploring our choices?
