Need to be in drivers seat to start car?

Guys am I going nuts? It seems one has to be seated in the driver's seat to turn the ignition? I try to reach in (without sitting down) and it won't turn. Sit in the seat, turns no problem.

Maybe a saftey feature?

this is true... or what you can do is press on the seat down and car will start...

It's not so much that you have to be seated... there is NO sensor in the seat that prohibits turning the ignition if there is no one in the seat. It's just that your remote has to be in range of the ignition receiver and it's very short range, so most of the time, if you are not fully in the car, you are not close enough to the ignition for it to sense your fob.

I reach in from the passenger side (without sitting down) and start my car every day! The fob is in my left front pocket so when I reach in from the passenger side, the fob is actually just about in the cabin space of the car, so I can start it. When I try to reach in from the driver side without sitting down, my left side is not really in the cabin space, and most of the time, I can't turn the ignition.

Hope this clears things up a bit...

where is the key fob?
I've leaned in and it starts as long as the fob is in the car.

Megatron is correct.

Yep, I start it from the passenger side sometimes, too. Hmmm, I'm getting the "low fob battery alert", so maybe it's all gonna stop working one of these days.

If it is not your fob, make sure you are not turning the wheel as you lean in. The wheel lock will keep you from starting too.
