Lots of Engine/Emissions/All-Wheel Drive Error Codes
2006 Acura RL
Started idling and accelerating very roughly. Codes are: Engine: P0300 P0302 P0303 P0304 P0305 P0306 Emissions: P0171 P0174 All-Wheel Drive: 77 Any ideas? Dealership isn't open again until Monday :whyme: |
bad gas???
|
Thought so at first, but I'm on my second tank of gas now (ran the first one all the way to empty) with the same issues.
|
Those are a lot of errors to come out of the blue. Wiring harness issue? Connector not completely plugged in. Also have seen a new Tundra have wires chewed from underneath from a rodent. Water in the electrical?
|
I checked online. Translates to misfires in all 6 cylinders, rough idle misfires, both banks running lean, and a AWD error because of those aforementioned errors.
Definitely not bad fuel. I filled up with brand new gas at a different location, unplugged the battery to reset everything, and they all came back within minutes. |
i guess you'll just have to wait to take it to the dealer. I tried searching online to help you out, couldn't really find anything that would be beneficial. i did see what the error codes meant which was why i suggest the bad gas... but who knows. sorry. hopefully it not something major or expensive.

There is a known issue with the EGR valve failing. I don't think it's a big issue but it's known enough that I believe there's a TSB, and I thingk the SH-AWD code is a secondary warning. What I mean is that there's nothing wrong with the AWD system, the code is stored as a result. I'm sure Honda programmers had a reason, but I don't know what it is.
I had a similar situation, and it resulted in replacing the EGR valve and all injectors. Nothing ever was done to the SH-AWD system. Once the repairs were completed no further problems. Despite the multiple codes appearing giving the impression of impending doom, it's really just an emissions issue and it's easily resolved by the dealer. |
Looking back at the original post, the biggest difference compared to my situation is that I never experienced a driveability issue. The car continued to run fine despite the warnings.
It seems obvious that one or more injectors in your situation were fouled, where they weren't (or not as badly) in my situation, but they were all replaced anyway as a precaution. |
Interestingly enough, I had a similiar situation occur a week ago. I was pulling into my driveway when the engine light lit up. The MID stated "Check Emission System", at which point the navigation screen lit up stating "P1717 Transmission Failure" and "AFS Failure". I quickly shut off the engine and restarted the car. The errors showed up again. I called the dealer and "limped" over. Long story short, there was a short in a sensor in the gear shift. Due to a back log of requests to Acura for the part, they ordered a whole new assembly. Took the dealer a better part of a day to install the part, but the car is back and no problems have arisen since.

Same thing happened to me recently. A sensor under the gearshift went bad. The tech guy said spilling liquids from the cup holder will do it.
|
Same thing about 2 months ago on my 06. Dealer replaced fuel injectors. AWD error is triggered by the emissions error, and the light goes off when you restart.
|
old post, but im having the transmission, emmissions and afs light to. I was wondering if whoever got the sensor under the gear shifter changed has the part number to the sensor they changed.
|
same here, EGR and injectors replaced under TSB
|
i had the same issue on my 07 rl and they charged me 160 to find out there was nothing wrong.. Does anyone know what the TSB was? I understand there may be a tsb but without a tsb in hand or the number it is kind of anectodal..isn't it? my car hasn't done it again since I paid them.. to fix it.. but they said nothing was fixed.. my car has 55k on it, so is this an emissions issue that is still covered under warranty or is it some other issue that is not under warranty?
|
What was the exact part the same thing is happening in my 05 rl
|
It was low oil check url oil the car is consuming real quart per 1000 miles
|
One quart

EGR and fuel injectors

I know this sounds crazy but... tune your radio to 88.4 AM and at the same time blow your horn with the high beams on. Clears everything up.
If that doesn't work and looking like an idiot, there really is a switch between the cup holder and gear shifter that can cause a similar problem. |
:spit:
|
^You forgot to say to turn on the windshield wipers too.
|
Name of the switch
What is the name of the switch?
