Got dripped on and looked up, saw this.

Fingered around sunroof and felt nothing. Anyone else have similar?

have you had a new windshield?
Did you clear out the sunroof drain lines?
Is your sunroof closing flush?

Original windshield ... just talked to guy, he says clean out sunroof drain lines too :)

Car still does this. Dealer had cleaned drain lines. New windshields has been put in since (not due to leak, due to crack)

Not all the time ... still trying to figure out if it's only when wipers on or not.

Anyone else seen this issue on forum?

We had the exact same issue with our MDX and it was the drain lines. No issue after blowing the out.

Same thing started happening to my RL a couple months ago. Only see the water seep through when the rain is really hard. And since I saw it here first, where are the drain lines? I'm sure I could search, but "since we're on the subject"....LOL.

I have the same problem with my car too. My water leak is the front pillar on my passenger side. I have the same windshield. I checked the drain lines near the moonroof and dont see anything obstructing the holes. I bought condensed air and sprayed some inside. I also poured water in to see if the drain is clear and the water drains out from the bottom of the car. Anyone have any other ideas what could be causing the leak?

I have the same problem. My leak shows up just a couple inches behind yours on top the pillar/side headliner. I have the original windshield and have checked the sunroof weep lines. I believe it only leaks when sitting but not if I'm driving at speed. I am getting a new windshield next week and hope they notice a leaking spot. Now what's this about acoustic windshield? Do I have to request a special one?

I had the same problem, but on the passenger side, original windshield. Popped the windshield trim off, and squeezed a little black rtv silicone where the steel frame was welded together in the upper corner, problem solved.

The original Acura windshield uses an acoustic glass to reduce noise. If it's not Acura, it won't be the same noise reduction, but will still shield the wind. :wink:

How did you remove the trim without damaging it? Similarly, how does it go back on? Thought they were glued in place..

I've had the same issue for years. Not the drain lines or the windshield to my knowledge as it leaks when the car is parked in the driveway. Not sure what the problem is other than the seal around the sunroof but haven't tested it so far.

I read in the service manual that you have to break the clips in order to remove the trim.

If it is similar to the C-pillar, then yes, the manual calls for hitting over the clips with a rubber mallet. On the 2G Legend, you could just pop the A-pillar trim off with your fingers, but I'm not sure it's the same on the RL.

I had the same exact leak after getting a new windshield. They came back and resealed the corner, that solved the problem.

Try putting a piece of tape along the top corner of the windshield and where the corners meet. If the leaking stops then you need to reseal your windshield.

I used a plastic trim removal tool and gently pried up between the windshield and the trim. There are 4 or 5 clips and I broke one during the removal, but it popped back in and was secure. I didn't replace the clip in case I had to open it back up, but it has been weeks without any leaks.

Removing the interior a pillar trim can be done without breaking the clips by pulling down toward the dash while prying out. The clip the manual states to break is over sized and slides into the trim from the top.

Had this issue on My '09. Popped the trim off (without breaking any clips, thank goodness) Poured some water around the windshield, seen where the water was coming in from, sealed around the top of the windshield with some silicone likepcloadletter did. And, it hasn't leaked since (over a year ago). The factory doesn't seem to get enough sealant in there where the frame is welded near the top. Mine leaked on the passenger side as well.

This stuff works really well for sealing those small leaks around the corners of the windshields. If the pinchweld gets rusted the seal goes. I assure you that the water that is leaking is going back behind your a-pillar all the way to the floor. This stuff on a dry day will cure those small leaks.

Had this same issue a couple months back. After several visits to dealers and auto glass shops it was revealed that the leak was not as a result of the windshield but the frame where the weddings meet. Mine was the passenger side roof line which was sealed with silicone after removing the trim. Very disappointed in Acura with the lack luster efforts put into building these cars. When you charge customers for a premium product, you should provide them with said product.

I have recently had the same leak (06 RL). Does the cowl trim have to come off before working on the pillar trim? And how does the trim at the top of the windshield come off? How much is the tool? Do you get this at the dealer only?

Having this problem right now. Cleared the sunroof drain snd taped the upper corner, on the outside, of the windshield just to see if that would stop/slow it.

The tape seemed to help for a little bit, im just trying to stay dry while out driving today. Is that too much to ask?

Took the car to a windshield repair shop this morning, they determined after about 30 mins of testing that the sunroof drain was the cause. He poured a full gallon of water down around the sunroof, while it was open. It appeared that there wasnt a problem until the very end of the pour when some water appeared to come thru the a pillar, but it wasnt til the very end.
Any thoughts to repair?

How did you clear and/or how do you know you cleared it yesterday? Sounds like it is still blocked.

Yesterday and today at the shop, poured water around the sunroof and it appeared yesterday that all of the water came out by the tire, today looked the same til the end of the pour. Yesterday while pouring the water it was raining too, today the car was inside so a lot easier to see.
The drain is definitely not clogged.

Ok - How did you clear it? Is it possible you punctured the drainage tube while trying to clear it? Maybe it's partially blocked - :shrug:

anything is possible, thats for sure. i used water, just poured room temp water down it.
Tomorrow I plan to insert a small flexible tube in the drain to see if maybe it has a separation somewhere, this should also help to unclog a partial clog. I may just end up lining the drain line with a new tube.
Ill also inspect to see if there is a leak in the pan somewhere around the drain hole.

Stuck a small flexible tube down the drain, it stopped about 4 inches in. Went with a small guage wire and i could feel it snag at the same location, but it kept on going. I didnt check the passenger side for the same "snag" because i didnt think to until i was typing this.

Ran some weed wacker trim line down both sides until it stopped, which was about the bottom on the windshield. When pouring water, it flows quickly out of the sunroof pan.
Have done the sunroof reset, it sits the same as it did before, with the rear just slightly lower than the roof line.
any other thoughts?

Been having alot of rain lately, i was hoping the reset fixed the problem.....it didnt. I can drive in the rain for hours with no problem. When the car sits and the rain is coming down, it will leak, then of course if i start driving, then its leaking on me.
Has anyone had success with the hardware adjustment in the manual? Any tips before i give this a try? Im sick of having a water spot on my pants.
I checked the trough tonight and there is more water in the passenger side and no issue there. There has to be a way to make the sunroof seal better OR figure out a way to seal the drivers side drain tube so it doesnt leak. Maybe ill put a pc of tape over the drivers side drain tube and see what happens then.

Damn sorry you are still dealing with this. Unfortunately I've got nothing else..........

There have been a few members who have successfully adjusted their sunroof to properly seal. I don't remeber what all is involved, but there is at least one thread with pictures on it.

When I started to get the leaking from the corner pillar of my 2008 RL, I just used a sealant il under the molding and it worked. For me, that was the straw that broke the camels back. It made me so angry that such expensive and suppose luxury cars would have so many issues. The end result....... Traded for an A6 and now I only visit the dealer once a year every 10,000 miles for an oil change. Life is good my friends

Sealant under the molding??? please describe. Id rather not seal the sunroof shut.

My leak was not coming from the sunroof. It was the are where the roof met the passenger side body frame. Underneath the roof rubber molding.
