Idea: KB2 AT6 gearbox to KB1?

Just a though.. If one has failing tranny in KB1, could it be possible to fit 2011 upgraded 6-speed tranny to 2005-2008 J35 engine in RL instead of the J37? Would anyone has knowledge of the ECU compability? Does RL have separate gearbox ECU in addition to engine ECU?

Will the tranny fit physically "bolt on"? Would a Acura ZDX unit fit?

It'll bolt up no problem.

I've never dabbled with the ECU pinouts for the KB2 but the ECUs are most definitely different.

At minimum you'll need the KB2 engine harness, ecu & ecu sub harness. Don't think it's too complicated but at the same time it won't be a walk in the park either

So there is no "gearbox ecu" - the one and only ecu is for both engine and tranny? Why do you think the harnesses have to be changed?

If the ECU is the same for both engine and transmission, that will definitely put a kink in things.

I too thought about the 6 speed!

I am fascinated by the possibility of the 5AT to 6AT swap. Any progress on this front?
