How high of mileage is too high?

I'm looking to get a 2nd gen RL and I found an 05 with 150K miles for $12K. Is this a good deal or should I run from it? It has a perfect service history at an Acura dealer and seems to be in good fluke.

What are you guys' thoughts on this?

It is half used up and the next half is the expensive half. The depreciation was the big cost on the 1st half and the repairs will be the expensive part of the 2nd half. Your call. Anything that breaks will cost $$.

I guess I'm just wondering how many miles a car can go if well-maintained? I always hear that highway miles are good... so this is all highway miles. If I can get 300+K miles out of it, I'd be happy. Is that reasonable to assume?

One of our forum members (FN P90) has over 300K miles and going strong.

Other than typical maintenance, and timing belt changes, the only major repair was the transmission, which I believe failed past the 200K mark.

its a little risky, but it really depends on how well the car was taken care of....

Just crossed 200k yesterday on my 05 and it still is doing well. KNOCK. KNOCK. Take care of the car the way you should, don't skimp, and it will last.

If you cannot wrench on your own car, and you cannot afford to pay someone who can then you should probably walk away.
