High beam bulbs after 10 years
I felt the high beam got so dim... with HID low beam on, it almost makes no different on or off at night. And the other day I looked at DRL they are yellow and dim. Decided to go with some LED 9005/HB3 bulbs.
After taking out the old halogen, they almost looked like burnt out but still working. 10 year of DRL usage sure took a toll on them. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...442aa8512e.jpg |
I was just wondering the other day what the life expectancy of these bulbs was.
I know the low beams are hell to remove. How hard were these? |
Very easy to remove, unclip wire then twist. Proper sitting the bulbs took the longest time, they just refused to align with the housing nicely, lol.

What led bulbs did you go with? Do your DRLs work with the new led bulbs? If the DRLs do work does the led bulb light at full brightness when in DRL mode? Post a picture please. :)

Got these bulbs
They work perfectly for DRL purposes, but does not throw as much light as halogen bulbs when used as high beam. I feel the HID low beam is much brighter at night in comparison. I don't use high beam much so they do just fine for DRL. The LED is dimmer in DRL mode. |

While trying to take a pic of DRL, looking thru my phones screen and realize the high beam is rapidly flashing. Had to take bunch of pics to catch one with the lights on. I guess it's a energy saving measure? Naked eyes will be fooled thinking the DRL is always on, not really. |
The flickering is common with LEDs. It has to do with the refresh rates that video cameras can see but the naked human eye cannot.

Our cars' high beam are halogen?
Or are all high beams halogen and low beam xenon, and I'm an amateur? |

I'm going to get these instead, as they explicitly state they support DRL mode with a lower intensity (1K lumens) output and no DRL errors. Pricy, but they have a 2 year warranty as well. Let us know how they turn out. I’m looking to buy a pair.

LED high beam works great except DRL error
I purchased some LED bulbs to replace high beams (9005). They work fine for high beam and DRL mode except I get a DRL malfunction error. Is there any way to correct this? I suspect that current draw is lower for LED than standard bulb. Error is annoying in DRL mode.
