Glove box

Anyone that has had the infamous glove box leather melting.... What have you done to try and fix it?
Just buy a new one?
Have yours recovered?
Try and repair yourself?

I scraped off the upper half of the glovebox coating (which was as messy as it sounds) and did an amateur job of recovering the top half with a large scrap of vynil I cut from a couch my neighbor had thrown out. It was black and just happened to match the sheen and grain of the dashboard. Looked pretty good compared to what was there but then I got lucky on a junkyard run and found one that had been professionally redone by a shop. The area around the lock is the main snag since it’s a recess.

Great work. You're lucky to have a black one – we tan people have much more limited options. But enterprising work on your part, nonetheless.

As my brother said when I showed him some of these lunar-surface glovebox door photos: "A really weird place for them to cheap out." I'm drowning mine in 303 Protectant (a UV blocker) as preventive medicine.

You can also buy leather vinyl and just wrap it
