Do you guys mind posting your ave miles per gallon and number of miles that you get if you drive until the gas warning light comes on? Really only interested in 2G RL's. Thanks.

that sounds OK,
i get about 18mpg on regular gas, driving in traffic only
I mostly drive highway with this car (home to work) when traffic is light so minimal stop and go. I average 23-24 with premium gas, as per manufacturer's recommendation. If you drive mostly city, you will see significantly less MPG, more like 15-18.
MID says 20.7 over the last 800 miles, I'm not 100% sure but I think I get somewhere around 300 per tank. That's probably like 60% city style driving with low speeds and traffic lights. I definitely do not have a heavy foot either. I've seen this car get 25+ MPG on trips but it tanks when you're not out on the highway
You guys run 87 Octane in your RL?? Any ill side-effects? I bought mine with a burnt valve and I bet it was caused by running crap fuel. Mine gets 15-17mpg in the city and like 280 miles to the light. I don't drive enough highway to say what I get there, but it is much better on highway than in the city based on a long trip I took when I first rebuilt the engine. I have only pushed it to the light a couple of times because I prefer to fill up at 1/4 tank. No point in pushing it to the light and risk burning up the fuel pump.
280 to the light seems very, very low. Maybe its all the city driving. I get like 360 or more when the light comes on. I usually refuel at half tank or if I see a gas price that is lower than ave. for the area or time if it is a name brand gas station. On my TL, I knew I had about 24-30 miles at light before total empty, not sure on the RL and I'm not trying to find out....
I run 93 exclusively in my car. Acura recommends 91 or higher. Wouldn't recommend doing 87 long term.
i always run 93 as well. Anything lower makes me nervous. There's a reason that Honda recommends 91+. You run a higher risk of detonation with low octane forf.
With filling up on Mid Grade I average 23 mpg when driving highway and 18 mpg on city but I drive mostly highway. Total tank is about 340 combined and that is when the light just comes on

Yeah I don't pay good attention to the total miles. 280 just may be about when I fill up. I'll go to the light this tank and see. Will take a few more days
I got 400 miles once but a lot of that was coming down the Rockies and coasting. I generally end up around 300 before I fill up maybe a little more, 320ish?
Took this last tank to the light. It came on at 265 miles. Averaged 16.38mpg. This is all city driving so it's a lot of stop and go. 271.4 is when I filled up. Several of my past averages are in this screenshot too.
Just filled up. Car was at 350 miles when 30 miles to empty light came on. Got to 367 when miles to empty dropped to 6 miles. Filled up. Range was 402 miles when I turned car on. It then jumped to 432 miles and then to 452 miles (?) while I was driving on highway. I have a picture where you can see that I have driven 20.3 miles from fillup and range says 448 miles. I think that the range is very inaccurate at a full tank obviously, but gets better around 3/4 of a tank. Will monitor and let you guys know. Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread. Very interesting. Gas is 91 octane btw....
I've gone over 450. Yesterday, odometer was at 400 when I filled up, but the light had just come on. Filled 16 gallons, so it is averaging 25 mpg, however this is mostly highway.
I am curious about what kind of fuel mileage you can get driving 55 MPH with the AC off, I currently drive my accord(v6) in this "zen like" state and it gets nearly 30 MPG's its amazing the difference in the amount of fuel you can save by simply not letting the rpm's get high enough to engage vtec
Yup, so about 30 more miles after light comes on for a total of about 370 miles on a full tank...thats about what I get...

I've been able to pull over 500 highway miles on a couple of occasions with a highway roadtrip, and with the tank full to the brim. It is possible depending on the drive.
Vtec shouldn't engage unless a specific amount of throttle is given at the right rpm. Is your accord a manual?
No its not a manual although that would be sweet! My understanding of VTEC is just rudimentary, My VTEC solenoid harness failed last year and I spent a week without VTEC during that week I saved a bunch of gas because once my RPM got up to the range that VTEC is supposed to work it just bucked instead of doing what Hondas due when vtec kicks in. I found that 3000 RPM is plenty to get me up to highway speeds and without the valve staying open for longer I'm not burning that sweet sweet gasoline.

I'm surprised your V6 Accord doesn't do better; both my 2001 V6 Accord (automatic) and my 2006 V6 TL (6-Speed manual) easily get over 30 on the highway at well over 70 with the A/C running. On a recent round trip from New Hampshire to the NYC metro area in my TL I averaged about 73 mph (when I wasn't in traffic), A/C blasting, and still got 33 mpg on the trip.

I am sure my fuel mileage calculations and mileage are off as I have 06 acura TL rims on my car, the speedo is a small amount off
Why would the wheel size have anything to do with your speedo? What size tires are you running?
stock acura tl tires (I think they are 225/45/r17), the car originally came equipped with 16's I now have 17's changing the rim size changes the final drive ratio which changes the speedometer changes to the speedometer effect the amount of miles your trip calculates so it throws the math off, unless of course you know something I don't and if you do I would love to know I also think I have read elsewhere that the 98 - 02 Accord speedo's were never quite right anyway.

I appreciate the information but I am more interested in RL fuel mileage than my clapped out Accord
His point was that it’s about overall tire diameter when the tires and wheel are together, irrespective of model.

I drive Clapped out accord with a quarter of a million miles on it and a salvage yard tranny so if it gets even 29 mpg and I can drive it 80 miles a day to work I’m not complaining. Responding to someone’s negative response by being short and accusing someone of driving a “clapped out” car is not helping the situation. I don’t care if you consider yours to be “clapped out”. I won’t tolerate responding to a perceived negative response by being even more negative.
No one is questioning your knowledge. All you had to was ignore the response.
