A/C is cold but A/C Pressure is Low

The temp has always been cold in my car but the air blows out like a breeze off the beach even when I have the fan speed on 7. Could it be the air filter that is causing this loss in pressure?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bill

I bought a new cabin air filter for $15.99 + tax from Autozone and the airflow is greatly improved. Still not what I would like but better than it has ever been.

I followed your instructions and changed my cabin filter in under one minute! Thanks for saving me more dealer fees.

Picking up this weekend a 06 RL and you have to know that I am going to check this out as soon as I get it home. The part numbers are very much appreciated! I have another car that has the air filter in a slot inside of the engine compartment. I had never been changed since it was installed in 1994. Imagine the gunk on that filter! YUCK!
Does a 1st Gen RL have a cabin filter? I know for a fact that it hasn't been changed if there is such an item.

Had my turn on Friday to change the cabin air filter - insanely easy! You guys saved me about $30 over what the dealer charges. And the A/C blows so much better I can't believe it. From now on I'll be checking it much more frequently.

Thanks guys!

going to go do this today. my AC is blowing pretty cold, but volume of air moving isnt great and on 80+ temp days, car never seems to cool well. thought it might have a leak and need a recharge/repair, but this seems like the first thing to try. no idea the last time the filter was actually changed.

here's an updated list of part #s. looks like the purolator so far is the cheapest route if you have an advance auto near you.

Bosch: 3875
Purolator: C35519 (Advance Auto had it for 13.78)
STP Cabin Air Filter: CAF1781

I just bought an Acura RL (2005) and had a reputable independent honda/specialist...had them do a whole slew of maintenance on it, including this. I pulled it out just to see what it looked like after driving from Omaha, NE to Palmdale, CA.....there was a little bit a crap...more than I was expecting....this is something that will need watching.

Also, after I pulled it out, I saw a GIANT clump of what I thought was a dust bunny back behind where the filter was...it appears to be some sore of sound insulation that either goes behind the filter, or somehow fell down into the air flow duct...it was wedged in the duct above the filter, but not sitting on the filter....

thoughts?

Yeah, that's insulation. I'm not sure where it came into the system from, but it's got to be from a joint in the air ducting.

Next question...should i be concerned where it came from and put effort into putting it back where it came from, or just toss it?

I'd say you'll probably do more damage trying to rip it all apart, and even then not sure you'd be able to put it back and get it to stay. So my vote is: "don't worry about it."

I am new to Acura RL 2010 but I did own 2003 TL back in the days! So I searched, compared and found few filters that were listed here and also found one on Amazon. There are gray colored filters and white ones. 1 gray could cost $10, but for this price you get 2 white ones. Any difference or which one is better(not counting the price)?
