Extended Warranty Question

Extended Warranty Question
I am in the process of buying a 2005 RL with 38,000 miles (non-certified). The manufactures warranty expires in about a week, and I was curious what everyones opinion on whether or not an extended warranty would be worth the extra money. For $2k, it lasts 4 years or up to 80k miles, and covers all electrical and mechanical items. The car is in pristine shape now, just came in off trade locally, and has always been serviced by the local Acura dealership. I think $2k sounds high, but if any of the computers, or transmission, or anything else goes wrong, I think I would regret not paying it upfront.
All thoughts welcome.

I got the same runaround when I bought my RL. The dealership offered the AcuraCare warranty for $2,000 .. I said "that's very high compared to what i've researched on the web" .. they went down to $1,100.
I would DEFINITELY get the warranty for the '05. I just had both door handles replaced for free, so it's already paying for itself.
Are you purchasing through an Acura dealership?

warranty definitely, but 80k miles is very low. Get the 4 year 100k if you drive a lot.
Regardless, 2k is WAAAY overpriced.
I'm pretty sure you can get one under $1500 if you look around.

Just do what I did. The first Acura dealer told me 2200 for a 4/100K warranty. I called back 2 days later saying another Acura dealer in the area told me 1800 for a 4/100k. He put me on hold and came back with 1500

you should be able to get AcuraCare with $0 deductible for $1,500 through your dealer. Be careful if they try the $100 deductible warranty for less money. You want $0 deductible.
Go to:

See what prices you can get from the online guys. Ask your salesguy to at least match those prices.

Thanks for the help everyone. I was able to get them to $1410 with a $100 deductible, or $1510 with $0 deductible for the Acura Care plan. Paid the extra to get no deductible. Much better than the original offer they were making. I look forward to enjoying my new (to me) RL.
