...but as I was driving from Toledo to Cleveland on the OH Turnpike, cruising in the center lane, in the distance I see a black car preparing to exit. As I approach, I look and say, "I know that rear-end". It was a NBP/Parchment Tech '09 RL. For I second I thought the universe was going to implode with our cars in proximity. So I pull up next to him and give a thumbs up. He was signing away, jamming to something. He then looks at me as if I were from Mars. Laughing, I punch it and move on my merry way. He exits, all is welll, the universe is still intact.

Hadn't seen another '09 RL on the road yet. It looked good. You forget how wide the RL is until you see it on the road. Looked sharp, I couldn't help but stare.

Thought I would share, no real point to this post, just thought I would never see another one based on the selling rate.

I've only seen two 05/06/07s in my area since I bought mine 7 months ago, and one was an old lady that almost pulled out in front of me. She had no clue.

So few RLs prob. because the nearest Acura dealer is over 50 mi away.

There is no shortage of poor drivers on the road. I encounter several every day. They come in all ages, colors and level of intelligence.

I have yet to have an elderly person threaten my life on the road with the seats reclined, text messaging, stereo blaring over normal traffic noise and the inability to use a turn signal while spending EXTRA money to make the windshield washers light up.

I saw beautiful girl in a black 2nd Gen RL at the gas station the a few weeks ago, talked to her for a minute about how our cars fly under the radar but we both love them so much. I will get dressed up and head over to the gas station and wait for her until I can get her picture.

I spotted only the second 2009 RL I've seen on the road in San Diego since they debuted. It was a black model coming towards me on a fairly empty street. From a distance, my first thought was "new TSX", and then my brain unscrambled the situation and lo and behold - a 2009 RL.

I do the same thing all the time. They look very similar from a distance (but so do the other luxury brands). In my opinion, the TSX looks the best with the plenum with the RL second and the TL a distant third.

You dont see many 99-04 RL's either. My 5 year old saw another black one like mine and I thought he just saw something that looked like, but no there it was another NBP RL. I had to look at it while it turned away. Sorry about all this 1st gen RL talk, but the first gen board is dead.

More the merrier IMO. I'm new to the forum, but in my short time the the 2G RL family has been a warm, welcoming group.

I see a lot of 1G RLs in Pittsburgh. Good Acura presence here, good looking cars.

As to bad drivers...they are across all demographics, but the ones that especially annoy me are people texting in the far left lane on the way to work in the morning. A little tap on the bumper usually gets their attention. (J/K)


My G/F was hit head on in her RDX at 40mph buy some dumba$$ kid who had dropped his cell on the floor while texting, bent over to pick up and drove into her lane. Totaled the RDX, she was fine save for a few bumps and bruises...kid almost lost his leg. His insurance paid for everything plus punitive damages as well.

Wow, I'm shocked when I see ANY RL. I guess its cause I'm still new to it.

I parked next to one once and really wanted to meet the driver. I did get a picture though.

You guys will love this story. I live just outside of the university of michigan campus. I live in a condo/townhouse style places, and a few months ago, an old lady moved in. Found it a lil odd, said she couldn't keep maintaing her house and wanted a condo by the university as she lived by campus her whole life.

In her garage, she has a Mercedes SL-500.....and yes, a 1992 Honda Accord. Last week, her accord dies. What does she come home with......An Acura RL!! she said her son picked it out for her, and she asked me if they renamed the accord a Acura. "they've come a long way" she said. I tried so hard not to laugh, but sweet old lady. Her SL-500 a 2004, has ...yes...3800 miles on it. I WILL BE MAKING very good freinds with her....convince her that SL must go, and i can help her out!

I tried telling her Acura is a luxury brand of honda, but she didn't seem to understand that concept. I said just like lexus...and toyota....blank stare...
