Codes and a few minor issues

Gents, first the good news, my Egr codes never came back, so the DIY procedure i posted almost a year ago definitely valid.

1. I got 171/4 both banks too lean, i cleared the codes and was fine for about a week (200mi) and 171 came back. I was thinking intake leak maybe? Will the old school method of spraying carb cleaner on the intake and listening to revs work? Anything else to check?

2. My girlfriend noticed that my car sounds like a diesel, and it kind of does sound like a small diesel (think MB with the clack - clack sound) do i need valves adjusted? (112k)

3. I have an interior leak in the upper A pillar area (sunroof problem?)

4. Every time it rains i have a "check adaptive front lights" where do i look for this problem?

5. Low windshield washer has been on pretty much pernamently for a year.

Thanks for any input!

A-pillar leak is either a clogged moonroof drain line or rust/bad sealant on the comer of the windshield. Both issues are common. Pour some water into the moonroof drain routes to verify that option before pulling up windshield trim.

AFS sensor is in the rear driver wheel well. All the info you need is here: https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...%24200-870717/

if your valves need adjustment, you will likely hear ticking noises, not sounds that mimic a diesel.

I posted that thread because there is a link in the OP with more specifics. Between the two threads, all of the info you need should be there.

knocking like a diesel can be excessive carbon or piston slap. I'd get with the dealer to see what they use these days to remove carbon. I used to use Techroline or BG44. There was also a product named top cylinder cleaner by GM - GM dealer only. The can gets sucked into the engine at about 1600 RPM then the engine gets shut down for 20 minutes, then started and the rest of the can sucked in. Then one drives it hard for about 5 miles. The smoke it makes looks like a destroyer laying down a smoke screen for the fleet so if you are in an inhabited area you won't be able to use it. Techroline may take 2 or 3 large bottles over 2 or 3 tanks of gas. When done with any of the above the oil gets changed. Beware that some of these can damage O2 sensors etc.
