Cam specs for 2009+ J37 RL?
Hi all,
I am trying to get my hands on the specs for the cam found in the 2009+ J37A RL.
Im currently doing a engine build on my 3rd gen TL and would like to make use of a set of J37 RL cams... I just dont know where to find lift/duration specs.
Would the dealer have this info? Or does anyone know them?
Thanks so much

The J37 for the RL, unlike any other J37s in the MDX or ZDX (Acura is careful to tout this feature in the RL, and while they specifically state the MDX and ZDX are intake side only VTEC), implements VTEC on the exhaust side. Look in the 2G RL garage, at the pdf service manual, and you may find specs in there.

What do you mean? 1 lb-ft at 500 rpm higher! Maybe it is the 5-speed tranny vs the 6-speed
2010 RL: 3.7-liter, SOHC, V-6 engine produces 300 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 271 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm; 11.2:1 compression ratio
2010 MDX/ZDX: 3.7-liter VTEC® V-6 aluminum alloy engine; 300 hp at 6,300 rpm and 270 lbs-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm; 11.2:1 compression ratio
The RL uses a unique multi-arm VTEC® rocker arm system that allows each of the valves to be controlled by its own low-speed cam lobe. The result is better air/fuel mixing in the cylinders that improves both combustion speed and combustion stability. When the engine reaches 4,900 rpm, the powertrain control module (PCM) triggers the opening of an electric spool valve that routes pressurized oil to small pistons within the VTEC® rocker arms. The small pistons then slide into position to lock the rocker arms for a given cylinder together, which arms then follow a single high-lift, long-duration cam lobe (increasing high rpm intake valve lift by 27.9-percent and exhaust valve lift by 10-percent). The intake and exhaust valve timing and duration are unique to the RL. The result of the VTEC® system is more power, reduced emissions and better fuel economy.

From my past experiences Honda doesnt publish cam specs anywhere. Only reason they are documented on the web, is because people take them off and degree them.
If someone has actualy got these specs for you I would be surprised, but I wish you all the luck in finding them.

Yes, OLD_HATCH you speak the truth. The numbers which are most important (lift and duration) are not publicly released from honda.
I do some specs as of this afternoon for some other cams which I know will work, so onward I go
Thanks guys.

I remember this thread where Honda had published some specs for the 2GLegend C32 engine. See post 15 or so.

I thought this might be the info you were looking for, but I guess they don't do this any more?
