Cam and crank seals at 200K
I'm doing a timing belt change on a 2005 acura rl. for a friend. along with the timing belt, water pump, tensioner and pulleys, do you think i should relpace the cam and crank seals? without having to looked at it yet, I'd like to know if they should be replaced at this milage. new owner of a used car. no service history. Thank you.

At that kind of mileage, I would go ahead and replace them, especially if you're planning on keeping the car. If they start leaking, you'd have to redo the whole timing belt to do the job.

thanks
thank you for the reply. makes good sense. I will use oem seals. havent had much luck with aftermarket seals latley.

OEM seals cost like $20 (if that much)

Do you know part # for the seals? How hard are they to replace during timing belt installation( do more parts need to come off)?
Thanks 91213-P8A-A01 91213-R70-A02 For some reason, I can't pull the crankshaft oil seal readily?? |
Crankshaft oil seal aka oil pump seal?
91212-R70-A02 Honestly.. if your at the mileage where that starts to leak, you might as well replace the whole oil pump for $130. Peace of mind > * |

thanks for all the replys. Yes I will change the seals with factory oem. and and all honda parts. Just came in the mail yesterday. The oil pump is a good idea, but since its not my car, i suspect only if its leaking behind the cover will he want to replace it. I am changing the crank seal which is in the front part of the oil pump. Thanks again all.

Are these same seals with different part #? Because on oemacuraparts it shows these as 2 different part no's for same seal.
