Bg 44k
Anybody heard of this product, BG 44K (http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html) ? Does anybody use it with 2nd Gen Acura RL? Somebody ask the same question on RDX forum but no answer. A friend of mine recommend it. He used it in his BMW.

Sounds like any other engine cleaner. I have used Seafoam in a few of our cars with great results and I typically fill up with Shell and Chevron gas because of the similar additives they use. Give it a shot and let us know if you notice a difference.

2020 Acura RLX Advance
It is the only additive I use in my 2006 RL. The dealer uses the BG44k in the fuel at major services and I will use it occasionally. I have 133k on my RL. My mother had a BMW 740iL and the dealer could never get the check engine light off when the car was relatively new. I put a can of BG44K in the tank and told her to use Shell gas. Light went out and never had an issue again with the Beemer.
My Acura dealer also uses BG products for their fluid flushes (trans, power steering, brakes).
My VW dealer added a can of BGMOA oil treatment to my new GTi at each oil change. They did it because of the turbo (and being a VW dealer I am sure they are aware there are lots of potential ticking time bombs in VW engines). I do not use the MOA in the RL as I do not think it is necessary and neither does the dealer.
I also have a 1979 Cadillac with 43k original miles. The valves got noisy from the car sitting for long periods of time. I started using the BG MOA in the Cadillac a few years ago and this solved the issue. This car usually sits untouched for 4 months at a time. It is as quiet as as new when first started so I am a believer in BG products.

They reformulated BG44k a while back and took out all the good stuff. No more polyether amine in BG44k, guess they wanted to boost profit margins. Google it - bg44k pea
Now it's just a money maker for the dealer, based on people past good experiences when it was Good Stuff.
Much better off using something like Redline SI-1 FI cleaner. It's still a good product.

I thought using a good quality, Top Fuel brand premium fuel was enough to prevent engine deposits? Aren't products like BG44k mostly useful if you use unbranded/low quality gas? I'm just asking, not trying to put the product down.

It's what I always thought, too. I use Chevron and Shell almost exclusively. There was a SeaFoam thread on the CL side a while back so I figured, wtf, why not?! I ran it through the vacuum port and the gas tank at 110k miles. All these other guys were talking about taking your car to a remote place to avoid flooding your neighborhood with white smoke. I went way out on a country road and ran it through. There was a small white cloud for roughly 2 seconds and then nothing. I'm not saying it didn't do anything, but my engine must have been much cleaner as a result of good gas and regular maintenance.

I used to use it but really haven't seen improvements with it lately. The Acura dealer here stopped selling it too several years ago for some hush-hush reason they won't talk about. 10 years ago I used to work next door to the area distributor and he was such an A_S. You could walk in and he'd say hi to you cause he knew you and talk to you about his kids ball game but if you asked to buy a case he'd say you have to go to the dealer cause I don't sell to non-car dealers. I use GM top cyl cleaner when I want to clean out carbon but do it in the country on a windy day cause it creates a huge cloud of smoke.

My Honda dealer cleaned my Accords induction system with the BG product. One differance in it and the bottled fuel cleaners was the addition of the spray throttle body cleaner. Both my Honda and my Acura dealers did NOT recommend the BG trans exchange system. (which they both used last year and have since discontinued).

That's good to hear. I think I will give it a try. I don't put much mileage on the RL. I have 2006 bought in 06/2007 and I only rack up 23000 miles. About 25% are highway miles.

btw, mine was basically the same way, very little smoke when compared to other cars

Bumping this old thread to share my experience using the BG44K product. I was not happy with with how the car shifted gears and also the fuel economy. I had been looking at a recent bill I got from the Honda dealer and it included all these services that they can perform and the BG44K fuel induction service was one of them. They actually recommended that I get it done because of the mileage on my car. At first I did not pay it any mind but after some information digging it appeared that it was a service worth getting. I called ahead and confirmed that they used BG44K so I went and had it done. I also ended up ordering a some cans from e-Bay. After the service was done I added a can of the product and topped of my gas and it has been great ever since. Combined with getting the 3x3 transmission fluid change, the car responds so much better and I don't hesitate if I have to make a quick lane change. So far fuel economy seems to have also improve but I'm still monitoring that to make sure this is not a placebo effect. Since owning the car I've always used Shell gasoline and sometimes Sunoco but who knows what kind of gas the previous owner put in. I'll see how long this performance boost lasts but I would not hesitate to use this product again.

I've used many of those fuel treatments like Techron, Lucas, Seafoam, STP but adding the BG44 it seems that the effects are more noticeable. It may very well be the fuel induction service I had done also shortly before I poured the additive in. I'm extremely happy with the results thus far.
