Eventually my 2011 RL Advanced will have to go perhaps 24 to 36 months,
Since the RL is no longer in production pls share your list that you have in mind.
My list is 2017 RLX Hybrid, Lexus LS 460 and Infinit Q60 Red.
I test out the 2016 RLX. Very powerful drive train that delivers compared to my RL. I find the brake pedal is way up higher and the brake feel is far from soft. The body style is far off for me. Still have to check out the new 2017 when released.
Lexus LS 460 is on my mind being a previous owner of LS 400 and L 430 which was replaced by 2005 RL. This a truly fantastic car.
Infiniti Q60 Red beautiful coupe, I need more amenities.
One of the things I cannot find is the RL steering wheel, the 6 o'clock open position is my favourite, it is an open space where as most other steering wheels are fiitted wit the T spoke blocking that space.
The other big thing is the interior colors, everything seems black which is not on my list.
Pls share your picks.

I'm very interested in the Lexus LS460 as well. But the BMW 650i Gran Coupe tops my list for replacement probably in the spring 2018.
The RLX styling just isn't doing it for me. Maybe 2018 RLX models might change my mind. I'll have to see one in person first.

After upgrading my suspension on my 2008 RL, I am in love with it again, and do not plan on replacing it at all. I hope to drive it until it is no longer economical to fix. If I were to replace it, the 2018 Acura RLX SH would be at the top of my list.

I drove all the Lexus (except for the current line up) already and yes they are reliable however the suspension cost too much to replace, especially when they approaching 100k miles.

09 ISF ---- Suspension set up actually quite like my TL Type S along with steering feels and well power is way more...

01 IS300 ---- Small and nimble car with all the torque band sit down low to mid RPM band top end is really boring.

01 Platinum & 03 Sport Design GS300 ---- soft suspension (even in the Sport Design) that soak up bump very well but at the same time its not fun as the IS300, GS300 designed for highway cruise rather than overall driving dynamic.

01 LS430 with sport package ---- By far this is the softest suspension of all Lexus, I though the whole car gonna flip over during traffic light left turn with speed around 20 mph.

08 GS350 ----- Its has more power than my RL (RWD duhhhh) Option is same if not superior to my RL, however the interior room is better in my RL. Every single GS350 has to blow out a HID bulb.

08 LS460 ----- This car suspension actually pretty close to my RL with OEM 17" rims on, the electronic is loaded and this is a BMW wanna be. Common problem are control arms, lower ball joint part alone cost $2700, brake actuator (yes its brake by wire) and it cost big buck to replace ~ $5000. Dash and interior melting for those who live in the hot climate area.

Don't think I could part ways with the RL anytime soon & realistically, the only thing that's really eating away at me (except for wear and tear ) is the lack of power/embarassing autotragic. Got embarassed by a Focus ST on a nice on ramp the other day..

Except for that, there aren't many cars that can match the RL in bang for the buck & that's why she isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I always look to see what's available every now and then but nothing seems worth a car payment. With that said, I've been on the hunt for a 6spd Cayenne GTS as a daily so the RL can get some down time & begin the next chapter. Of course those aren't the easiest to come across.

If anything ever happened where the RL is out of the picture, a second gen CTS-V would be next 100%

Really like my '06 and it isn't going anywhere, but if I had to replace it for some reason I would probably do a KB2 RL. These cars have everything I need in a daily driver/commuter car. Reliable, very comfortable, adequate power, good handling, good features.

Well I am in deep trouble replacing my RL.
2015 and up Lexus LS 460, Infinity Q60 Red Sport and Acura RLX Hybrid share 2 things.
Black interior and 'T' style steering wheels.
Flagship models should not carry the same steering wheels as the lower entry level models. The RL wood wheel is only found in the RL.
Black interiors hide the imperfections and kills the internal scenery of the car.

Recently test driven 2018 RLX Hybrid and for some strange reason I was not very impressed.
Being the owner of 2011 RL I expected more. The ride is too bouncy for me and there seems to be a slight delay after taking off from a stop light. In other words it does not move off like the RL.
However, this is not my final judgement will continue to test drive.

I wasn't impressed at all with the Hybrid RLX when I test drove it two years ago. I went it seriously ready to trade in the RL on it, and I was disappointed.

I guess that why the RLX resale value tank after 3-4 years with the PAWS take the worst hit. Oh well looks like Lexus will be my next brand for luxury and sport sedan.

The new RDX is Acura's first car introduced with the precision styling direction and it looks fantastic. I think the next gen RLX will be in the right direction. I am in no rush as I don't plan to sell my RL ever..as long as it doesn't break down on me, i'll continue to drive it. and when the next generation RLX debuts and make a good impression then it'll have my attention then.

RLX is definitely not an option. Tested PAWS version with 30 miles and there was cracking noise in driver's door... also in passenger's as well... absolutely not a 55-60k car!!!

In the same class with RL I have GS350, BMW 535xi / 540xi (depending on year) - but certainly all know that these models are mid 30s certified 2-3 years old with about 20-35k miles...
I am certainly open to step out of the RL class and consider other cars: '14 TL FWD, GTI/R certified, '18 BMW X1 (cert, which I still have to test drive). I am still working on additional models to include into consideration
Coupe's: Mustang GT / Camaro SS (if I decide to keep my RL as winter driver) - less likely due to not wanting a toy-car that is 30k and more

So my response was under premise of replacing the RL. I also replaced the suspension and bunch of other parts on my RL and drives great - but once it dies, which is probably not any time soon, then consideration would be good to have ready of other models and cars.
One thing I do recommend - try other cars vs RLX '18 - I test drove it and felt like a cheap 35-36k brand new car inside. They have definitely ruined Acura with their VCMs, silicone 3.7 engine thingy, transmissions I won't even go there lol ... same thing like with Honda's - all turbo, no good traditional V6 without bs "tech" to save 0.05mpg ...

I am leaning towards a 2016 or newer MDX. My wife has an older MDX. I love the MDX but an average of 17mpg is the reason I haven't got one for myself. She doesn't drive much but I drive ~25k miles a year. The newer MDXs get better gas mileage than my 05 RL. I average around 23 in the RL. I drove a 16 MDX home from the auction, I work for a Honda dealer, and I averaged over 26mpg! I would like to have Android Auto/Apple Carplay but I believe that is only in the 2018 and newer models. My only concern with the 2016 or newer MDX is the reliability of the 9 speed transmission. We haven't had any major issues with the 9 speed transmission in the Pilot Touring/Elites yet but it has only been a few years. Time will tell. The 6 speed transmissions have been very reliable but the 9 speed does perform better.

For now my RL is still holding up well. I broke 190k miles last month. I love almost everything about it still. I wish the paddle shifters were active all the time (I know they are in newer models), that it had A/C seats, better bluetooth functions and streaming, better MPG, and more power would always be nice. Besides that I really love the RL. I have been in the car business my entire adult life and there aren't many cars that compare to it. I would love a newer LS460 F Sport but I can't afford that.

I've pretty much test drove everything in TLX/RLX class. not going to list every car i drove but for Acura:
RLX Hybrid - RL was superior in material & build quality imo. felt cheap & didn't justified price. not to mention it looks like bloated TLX now.
TLX A-Spec - didn't like zf9speed and overall acura design language.

others that were top consideration:
Ghibli SQ4 - they are surprisingly cheap on used market & can score decent lease deal due to poor sale. however still couldn't justify $$ for rebadged Crysler 300 & maintenance cost at dealer.
Stinger GT2 - decent drive, looks like copied element from multiple brand/car put together. poor dealer experience & they weren't willing to work numbers.
G80 Sport - well put together car, but still screams Hyundai lol. not as exciting to drive.

Giulia won my heart due to it being ultra unique and razor sharp steering. there are few cons on it but pros outweighed cons

Almost double the RL's 2nd hand price.

Replaced my last RL 2011 Advance with 2019 Lexus ES 350 Ultra Luxury.
