Aftermarket brakes/rusting issue??
I bought powerstop aftermarket rotors about two months ago that are slotted, drilled, and of course vented. The pads are carbon ceramic.
Recently they have been turning a rustic color and the stock ones did the same. I know there is metal in the brake dust and that probably causes the rust, and I was wondering if there is a way to prevent this?
Possibly a spray or lube that can go on them?

rotors are made of iron, iron rusts.
no way around that unfortunately. I believe some companies make a Cryo-treated rotor that resists rust but it's still an inevitable part of cars.. Don't buy slotted/drilled brakes next time.
Also.. wait... think about what you just asked for.. a LUBE for your BRAKES?!

rotors are made of iron, iron rusts.
no way around that unfortunately. I believe some companies make a Cryo-treated rotor that resists rust but it's still an inevitable part of cars.. Don't buy slotted/drilled brakes next time.

Of course I would not, at least I know somebody did not read the thread LOL I told you I was just kidding I wanted to see if someone knew about why this rust happened so quickly on my brand-new freakin rotors. Pissing me off,....this damn rust crap

The picture you're showing looks like brake dust mixed with rain and whatnot just getting stuck and dried in crevices...
if you're extremely anal...I'd suggest you get a toothbrush and some brakekleen and scrub that stuff out. It should clean right up...doesn't look like actual rust.
This is extreme though and you'll be driving yourself nuts to keep a car clean, and the wheels and the calipers and now the rotors too.

Yeah it is the brake dust that is rusting due to rain and yes I'm a bit anal and it's going to drive me crazy. You can see them through the rims so much better now than stock so I tend to clean them more. I cleaned them last night with a brush and they look brand new now.
I didn't know if there was a way to prevent this but I guess not ;(

and yes, they do look much cooler. I got that rusted look on the stock rotors as well, so being drilled and slotted doesn't matter with the rusting brake dust.

dont put anything on the fucking rotors. How is wax going to stand up to 600F? Same with Vaseline. It'll end up just getting on to the rotor which is a bad fucking idea.
the one Thing he can do is buy the rotors that are entirely powder coated, or galvanized. As soon as he brakes a half dozen times, the rotor will be clean but the slots will remain with the protection. It still has to be wiped every few months though.

Put the rotors in the safe and put on the Fila's and jog down to the nearest walmart and buy tire cleaner, Mystery has good recommendations, and then use the can as a straight edge to line up the Letters on the trunk.....

Cars like M3s, or Porsches, or fuck any high performance car that comes with drilled or slotted rotors are designed to have them. What does that mean? It means the rotors are purposely oversized to compensate for the loss of surface area that the holes or slots create. What you've done is you've taken a stock sized rotor and essentially decreased the surface area contacting the pad, with the introduction of the gaps.
You will never reach temperatures under daily driving to make use of your better cooling. What you would be better off doing is getting a better brake fluid, capable of handling higher temps that will result in you avoiding brake fade much longer. Under DD conditions, you will never come close to ever making use of those slots.
Also, why the fuck do you have to clean the pad? That literally makes no sense. And if that was the case, cars with blank rotors (aka 97% of cars on the road) would have issues eventually with "dirty brakes", but they don't.
