Adaptive Front Lighting System Question
I recently purchased a used 2008 RL which by the way I love the car. Unfortunately, I hit a deer a few weeks ago and just got the car back last week. I noticed when I got it back that the driver's side headlight does not move when starting the car and it is my belief that it did prior to the work I had done. It does seem to be moving when the vehicle is in operation and moving upon left turns on the road. I asked the dealership (service advisor) about it over the phone and he claims that only the passenger side headlight should move with the AFS system. Can anyone answer whether or not the driver's side headlight should do the left to right movement upon start up of the vehicle with the headlights on?

Thanks I wasn't positive but it sure seemed like when I started it up before the accident and repair that it did move just wanted to make sure they did the repairs correctly. Find it amazing that the service advisor is under the belief that the driver's side doesn't move ever with the AFS system which is absolutely NOT the case. LOL

Only the passenger headlight moves on startup as a system check but pretty sure both move when driving (driver to the left, passenger to the right). The driver side will not move when making a left turn from being stopped to keep from shining into oncoming traffic.

Only JDM lamps will move the driver's side upon start up due to wrong side of the road driving.

I thought my 2005 was broken when only the passenger side light turned on start-up. But then I checked the owners manual and it stated that was normal. Drivers side should only turn while vehicle is in motion.

haha. passenger headlight controls most of the settings and warning lights. anything wrong with foglight or headlight like afs and drl light going off means that theres something wrong with the passenger headlight. hardly does our computer recognizes anything wrong with the driver side.

headlamp replacing
2005 Acura RL
Can anyone tell me the best route to replace the bulb in the passenger headlamp?
Through the front or wheel well?
Seems like a big project going by Youtube videos

Front the top is going to be your best bet. Just remove the plastic trim, and then remove the tube for the windshield washer tank. once those are removed, you'll have fairly easy access. I'd say the hardest part is turning the cap for to access the bulb. Good luck!

passenger side you can do it via engine bay using the same method describe above, however driver side is another story as I tried to do so ONLY later on I drop the bulb (FML) and end up remove the front bumper. It take about 5 mins to drop the bumper.

^I found it can be done by shifting the battery over towards the engine on the drivers side. But I have good manual dexterity and I know how to change it by feel now LOL. First time I ever did the job, I just pulled the battery out lol.

My advice would be, if you don't wanna risk having a heart attack, and get all greasy up the arms, and risk dropping the bulb, or risk having dust or dirt on it, etc.
Drop the bumper. And the headlights have 5 screws (people think it's 4). You will be happy and whistling doing it, gloves are enough, you'll wipe that bulb nice , insert it, and close everything in a sure way, and re-screw. With an electronic wireless screwdriver, it takes 15 minutes for both headlights. 10 for one.
