Post Acura RL - Replacing the Center Console Armrest

I have the common center armrest bubbles.

I know many people on here found local shops to do the job, but I don't know who to go in the Bay Area, California.

Also driver's side is flatter due to my elbow.

I bought this eBay 05-10 Real Leather Center Console Armrest Black Stitch for $32.99

The seller, Autotrimming offered to do the installation for $40 + $12 (for shipping). I just need to mail him my original armrest piece.

1715 E Price Rd
Brownsville, TX 78521

Will keep you guys updated.

Did mine the a few weeks ago. Took 20 min. Save yourself $40 plus shipping both ways. There's instructions in this forum on how to take it off and replace it.

What did you do to replace the gel/cushion under the leather or was yours not flat yet?

My foam was in great shape. You can go to a fabric store and get a small amount of foam though.

I did the same as NathanJax, but I did get 1/2 inch cushion that's cut to fit under each section from a Craft store for like $10 and that's was perfect! It's a easy DIY. Good luck!

I bought the same leather replacement on ebay. My foam was also worn away from my elbow. I plan to go to a local fabric store and find a higher density foam replacement. Here is a video i did real quick to show some of you how to remove the arm rest covers. I will probably make another video later adding the new foam and leather covers.

DIY Outcome-not too shabby for a noob !

Many thanks to all who took the time to explain freshening up the armrests. I researched the many options on eBay and went with a high feedback seller. After receiving the material, I removed the armrests from the car and stripped the old material off. Actually headed off to a local auto top and interior specialist figuring they would do a better job than me. As soon as I told him it was an Acura he turned down the work ! Said he only specializes in US autos. So I busted his chops about the Accord sitting in the back area next to a '57 Chevy, he said it was his kids' car and he won't touch it. It worked out as it should-I stopped and picked up some 3M and did it myself. The before and after is in the photo.....not perfect but I'm quite satisfied.

Nice job. I took my to an upholstery place. Got them done for $20 for the pair. The guy asked me what kind of car to which I told him it was a Honda. In my experience, moment I mention the price of any work doubles.

Aren't the center armrest and the door armrests actually vinyl with the seats only being leather?

This is awesome! My armrest currently has a slight tear in it, glad there is a fix.

I took mine to a shop to get it reupholstered. Didn't know they sold it on ebay at the time. It costs a lil bit more but if you take off the armrest and bring it to them they won't jack up the price. I told them to add a lil more cushion to mine. Here's how it turned out.

I ordered taupe/gray from the eBay guy in Texas. My interior is taupe, but the replacement leather is clearly gray. Taupe is more of a beige color. Anyone else order taupe and not be happy with the color match? Not sure how you can sell something that is taupe/gray, they are two distinct colors.

I did these about 5 years ago and the fake leather is holding up way better than the Acura vinyls
