3F temp outside, wanted to start the car, turned ignition into accessory position a and heard the noise that was coming underneath power steering. Witched ignition OFF, and then again (same noise came on) ... the third time as heard on the video I did it no noise was heard and no lights during the whole process.

What this noise could be caused by does anyone know? After this it never came back even though we had colder day just 2 days ago in chicagoland with temps being below zero.

Leaf blower?

It almost sounds like a fuel pump.

Do you have the climate control on? Could it be one of the fans inside the dash? (Maybe the lubrication has gelled up at those temps)

I thought that too, but it sounded louder outside the car... maybe it is the fan.

I turned-off everything the second time I started the car (to make sure it is not affected by maybe AC) and still gave this sound... Noise is not heard outside at all! Only if you are inside and it was coming exactly underneath power steering wheel towards the pedals (close to knees when sitting); I am suspecting it is one of the fans or electro-motor that runs the whole thing because each of three times I heard it it had different tone of same noise (almost like it was warming up)... I do not think it is a fuel pump because I can hear when pump goes on with usual sound (outside the car) and finishes buzzing... during the testin I checked this and when I turned On the ignition and this noise came on...

Will report later if same issue occurs... anyone else had similar/same experience?


I'll keep my ears On when the temps are low and see if it does it again...

Ohhh under the steering wheel, I thought you meant the PS pump.

So, if you cannot hear it outside and the A/C & Radio were off then I would venture to say a failing relay.

I had a similar noise today, but it was while the car was on. and i could hear it outside. sounded like if it was winding. or like a vacuum like yours. so who could tell me what it is. even when i drive it sounds like its winding. i had everything off lights, fan, radio just the car.

Didn't think anyone saw 3F this year considering how mild it's been this winter across the lower 48..

well after taking to dealer that same night. (va acura stay open till 1am) they had me schedule to bring it in the next night to drop it off. well the next morning the sound wasnt there anymore. and i took to the dealer just to see if it would still come back. well its at dealer now and havent herd from them till monday just because my adviser wasnt there.
