I got quoted 200 bucks from a local, reputable mechanic to do both the tranny/diff using dw 1 and dwfs, so will likely get it done. 200 bucks for piece of mind is worth it IMO, then I won't need to do again to my 100k service.

Just picked my 06 RL up. Really like the car. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the road noise from the General Exclaim UHP 245/50 ZR17 Tires. I've read on forums that the Turanza Tires fix that problem though. Everything is standard on the car, which is fine by me. Just need to find a place to buy the UHP tires from me and put that toward the Turanza's for a quieter ride. The General's really drive well, but I'm not a racer by any stretch, so they're just not for me.

TampaRL, The thread you and some others had on here about the Serenity's were really helpful in my choice. Just a matter of going to make it happen. I'm hoping to catch Firestone in one of those buy 3, get 1 free deals soon. And hopefully find a buyer for the General's. Thanks for all the posters on here for helping out a new RL owner.

I'm actually surprised that the RL allows that much road noise in the cabin considering that the rest of the outside noises don't get in.

I also get a little noise in the glove box like you mentioned (nothing horrible though), and a bit of bass resonance in the rear from the sub-woofer. I'll be interested in how quiet it will be with the quieter tires on.

Understanding your desire for smooth quiet comfort over ultimate performance (as was mine), the Serenities will transform the RL. Although the OEM Micheline MXM4s were not horrible, IMO, they too got loud as they wore in. As you have read, my experience with the Serenties is all I hoped, even knowing they would have a slight avg mpg penalty over the MXM4s.

Went out looking for a reliable Accord. Drove an RL and never looked back. Hoping everything holds up well, I want this car to last me a long time.
