I had settled that is was the compressor. So I was gonna put myself at the mercy of the stealership to repair. Thought I would check the fuse under the drivers console. Pulled it out all fine, put it back in tried the A/C and it came on 40 degrees. Now I'm a little weary how long will it last for.

Jazzy your stator is probably going bad on your compressor, the stator is what starts the compressor, and there are two scenarios that can happen:

a) tech can get clutch off, replacing stator, and you are back in business

b) clutch is frozen on to compressor, tech can't get to stator to replace, you have to replace entire assembly ($$$) (whole new compressor/clutch assy)


Unfortunately my RL had a frozen clutch, so the tech had to replace the entire compressor...big bucks. Hopefully your clutch is not frozen on to the compressor, that is the moral of the story.

Hello everyone. This is my 1st post, and although I think I know what the problem is, I'd like to see if anyone else has had a similar issue. drove my 06 RL to dinner, with ice cold air. After dinner, we went to leave, and had warm air blowing from the vents. I drove it home, and when I went back out to look at it, it was working. I figured it was a fluke. When it happened again I investigated. Both fans are running, and I have power at my compressor. I'm thinking clutch problem. Suggestions?

My 05 RL had the same problem. The compressor was fine. It was the clutch not engaging.

Also, you should post this in the RL specific forum. This is general car talk.

Do anyone know the 05 Acura RL part number for the stator(field coil) clutch. My AC inst working. I check all the fuses and the freon psi and everything is good. I even hear the compressor come on when I hit the AC button. but still blowing hot air. So I'm going to try DIY. Any tips,instruction,pictures would be help.

I mean this in the nicest of ways, but if you don't even know where to look to find the parts, you really shouldn't be attempting this job yourself.

If your compressor is turning on and spinning, then its not your compressor/stator/clutch.

Get it diagnosed properly, perhaps you have a leak in the system and it just needs to be charged. A/C systems need the proper tools and diagnosis before you start throwing parts at it.

I dont have any leaks. There is still freon it. I use the gauge and it reads at 45 psi.

My AC went out too last week. Followed by the transmission. Acura wants $7000. No thank you ill just buy my VW GTI I been after, I just have more of a reason to buy one now.

Just started shifting real hard then stopped going into gear, would just act like it was in neutral.

low on tranny fluid? broken axle..?

Axles look good didn't see anything out of the ordinary, and the tranny fluid should be okay there's absolutely no residue under the car or around any mechanical parts, I can hear it making gear changes but it won't go anywhere unless I rev the car real high then it'll just crawl like 1mph

Who know's but I'm not even going to bother fixing it. To me it's not even worth the time and money along with the other issues I've been having I feel like I'd be throwing money down the drain.

Is anyone familiar with the after market or remanufactured compressors kits sold on ebay? The reliability of them, they do pale in comparison in price OEM $700+

Hi, my ac compressor works but it doesn't throw any cold air. My navigation system doesn't work at all to control it and Idk if that's a problem for the ac. I put the temperature on low. I have a Acura Rl 2005. It just throws warm air. We bought a ac compressor. Need help.. Tia..

Most likely stator, field coil, or clutch. I can't ever remember which are separate parts though.
