2007 Honda Legend Brochure
So I was able to get a 2007 Legend Brochure from Japan. It was interesting to see the many differences between the two cars. I was actually really surprised to see they offered a model without leather!. Also 'black' wood was a nice touch I thought on the lower models, makes for a more sporty feel. Here are some pics showing some of the differences -

Japan is also the size of California, we have far more land to put on maps and their land is far more crowded with just under HALF of our population. They NEED 3-D maps far more than we do. Our streets are far easier to navigate.
Also, many Japanese do not like leather in their cars.
As for the cooled seats, there is no excuse and that should have been put on US cars. Even Canada gets them!

I'd like the cooled seats also. But, I'm sure it's just a business decision. Trying to match up to their competition. Trying to hit a particular price point to be competitive, etc. The Canadian RL is packaged completely differently (go to Acura.ca). Also, it's priced at almost $70,000!! Question, would the RL sell in the U.S. for $70k? They can't sell it now at $50k

I love when Americans think they should have everything anyone else has yet ignore stuff they have which others don't. Good logic. heh
And it is just totally insane us Canucks have cooled seats. I mean it is 20 below here year round!!! Oh wait...we have had tons of 90-100F degree (for those who do not grasp the celsius scale) type days this summer and my igloo melted.
BTW I do think it is funny/silly the U.S. RL doesn't have the ventilated seats but to act like it is shocking Canada gets them is lame. Maybe those who think it is so weird need to actually visit Ontario and see what the temp is like in the summer.
Oh and we also pay a hell of a lot more for our RL than you guys. If you want the cooled seats then hey, buy a CDN RL which after conversion will prolly set you back 60-65k.

Hey Rob, relax, let's not make this a Canada/U.S. thing. We're all Americans, right?
Question for you; Why do you think the RL is priced so much higher and includes these features. How does the RL match up to it's counterparts (BMW, Lexus, MB, etc.) in Ontario? Are all these vehicles higher priced north of the boarder. Can't be an import tax thing could it? Hell, the MDX is MADE in canada. I'm sure Canada isn't beating up on Honda in Japan with import taxes.

Isn't the ventilated seat feature just ambient air fans, not a/c air?
It'd be a nice feature to have either way here in TX.
would also help preserve the seat leather as well as the human leather

I'd like the coin pocket. Extra storage is always nice.
As for the 3D NAV, that's probably a function of the NAV disc contents, not the overall NAV system. It is kind of cool though.
And speaking of cool -- the cooled/ventilated seats should have been on the US models. The Infiniti M and the Lexus GS both have them. The feature is already part of the car, and the ducting and some fans can't be that much more $$$. Another sympton of Acura's disinterest in this car.

Rob, I am glad to be paying what I do here in the States. That $70k you guys pay includes lots of taxes I'm happy not to pay. You have a good point.

The Japanese LEGEND also has a card slot in the panel just above the coin bin. It serves as a personal settings memory card and it also integrates with a voice notification systems that responds to highway systems voice prompts ("The Pass Thru Toll Booths are on the far left") and key POIs ("The parking garage entrance is on the right" "The parking garage is now full") as the car approaches POIs integrated into the voice alert system (I believe thos voice alert systems also integrates with the cellular systems in Japan as well). The driver can tag POIs that are of use to themand the car will then interact with the voice notification system the POIs subscribe to (eliminating ALL voice alerts yakking at you as you drive).
It was kinda cool, not that I could understand the Japanese lady! It does get a bit annoying to here <bing> "Blah blah blah" too frequently. That systems seems to be exclusive to Japan, as it is not offered on LEGENDS in other markets. It kinda takes the Navigation to the next level where the memory card catalogs POIs specific to that driver and therefore engages the voice alerts to only that driver's needs. I really don't know how the voice alert system actually transmits the alert to the car, or what system in thecar broadcasts the alert, but it is very similar to the NAVI voice alerts, and likely integrated. The Japanese NAVI is lightyears ahead of ours. I could not use it for more than visual references (again, the language escapes me).
Additionally, the memory card stores settings content similar to our fobs / transmitters, but I do not know what additional information it stores.
