2006 RL not start after check charging system
Today, my car suddenly get power interrupt (lost and get power back right away) when I am waiting for the traffic light. Then check charging system shown on screen. When signal is green and I try to move the car, the car won't move. I have to change to manual to move the car.
After that, my radio/GPS is on and off. Check power steering/vsa/power breaking/sh-awd system msg all pop up on screen and I also can feel sh-awd not engaged well which cause car shaking.
After I managed to drive another 3 miles in 10 minutes and park the car in my garage, the car won't start any more.
Can any one help me to understand what problem could be on my car?
Thanks

A loose terminal cable can cause intermittent power loss. Make sure the battery cables are tightened securely. They should not be able to move on the terminal.

You are right. It was due to the dead alternator. I called my local Acura dealer the second day at morning where I have a good master technician as contact. As he heard what I described, he said it sounds you have a bad alternator but you need to have your car down to our shop. I bought a battery charger from kmart and charge the battery 3 hrs, started the car and drove to the dealer which is 5 miles from my home.
When the master technician started my car in the shop, he asked did you hear the noise sound under the hood. It was the alternator. The code reading and further check showed my battery is still good but alternator was dead.
Even though I know I can have the altertnator rebuilt or have it replaced in other dealer at much lower price, I still have the alternator replaced in Acura shop. It costed me around $485 after tax with free diagnostic charge ( priced at $42). The new Acura alternator alone cost $273 at discount price (before tax).
