2005 RL one owner 35,000 miles!! Clean Carfax

I told my fiance this was a "once in a lifetime chance". After scouring the internet and cars.com for about 6 months after I totaled my last 05 RL in a fender bender... I discovered and quickly purchased a 2005 Silver RL with 35k miles!!!!!! One owner, no accidents from Tenn. This thing is immiculate! the key fobs dont even have scratches or wear... Definitly an older woman who drove it to funerals and the pharmacy. Purchased the USAspec bluetooth adapter and I am so stoked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eventually want to get some bigger wheels with summer tires and throw some snows on the stock 17's.

Question- Timing belt? Everywhere i've read says its miles vs time.

Beautiful Lakeshore Silver! I had a 2006 Celestial Silver RL I put 173k on years back.

The RL's were the last Acura to have a hand sanded paint finish by a team of 14 Acura factory paint technicians. When these cars are properly cared for, they really stand out.
The new RLX does not have the hand sanded finish, and you can see it in the mass production "orange peel" look as you can in almost every other new car. Lexus and Audi (and most Toyota's) are the exception with their brilliant factory coachwork.

Enjoy your "new" RL. It is a beauty!

Where'd you find this tid bit, I like stuff ike this? Orange peel is generally in the clear so are you saying these techs wet sanded the clear on every car to remove the peel? I can say the paint on my CGP is amazing and deep like some of my Euro models and my 92 Lexus is equally stunning as well.

here's some info on the paint found from Honda News

I took the paragraph from the '09 RL overview/introduction. so this assumes, all RL's get this treatment

The ED primer is cured at high temperature to improve corrosive durability.Next applied is a primer-surfacer that is hand sanded to ensure a smooth surface for better appearance. After a waterborne color basecoat is applied, a pair of clearcoats provides depth while helping to protect the base coat from air pollution, acid rain and sun damage.

Damn, nice find!! That thing will last you for years. One thing to note is if recalls have been performed yet. If not, I would do so.

The special painting process was also in the sales brochures. The 2005 RL brochure had a nice write-up on the paint process. That was back when Acura was less timid about touting their own horn relative their engineering excellence. VW offered a similar painting process (Klavierlack) as a very expensive factory option ($2k) on the 2004-2006 Phaetons.

Unfortunately, the average person, especially with leasing being so popular, just does not appreciate this level of engineering and not willing to pay a premium. Hence more commodity like cars that can be leased like hotcakes (i.e. TLX and the US spec Passat). My mother has a 2015 Mercedes S550 and the paint is not any better than her neighbor's Chevy Impala. Her prior 2008 Lexus LS460 and my dad's prior 2003 Lexus LS430 had much superior paint vs her current S-Class.

The RL and the Lexus LS460 are the last of the true Japanese tanks.

Great buy!

Almost a shame to use it and not stick it in a museum or something.

PS - liked the 'driving to funerals' bit too!

Would it mean that if the car ever needs body work, would it look different? should the bodywork guys do a different work procedure to help match the color?

NICE! good find... Would you mind sharing how much you got yours for? I bought my 2005 A-spec RL with 122k for 11,500 from an Acura dealership in Ohio almost two years ago. Has very unnoticeable Honda rust on the rear fenders, but other than that great condition.

They were asking $16k- i "paid" $15k but they gave me $5k for my trade in which was about $2k more than I expected to get!

Beauty. Looks almost like my '07 LSM except you got the Taupe interior, you lucky dog. Can't stand my Ebony interior, shows every speck of dirt. Excellent buy!
