2005 RL Navi unit will not load past self diag mode

2005 RL Navi unit will not load past self diag mode
2005 Acura RL A-spec Acura Link unit will not load beyond self-dial mode without putting the 4 digit code. Everything works brilliant after putting in code. Seems to me to be a software issue, however dealer says I need a new unit.They WILL NOT tell me where the problem is..only "replace the unit". Please give me some ideas what to try next...anyone?? HELPP!!!

The dealer doesn't know what's wrong. They treat things like the navi drive as a black box. If it doesn't work you just replace it. Some people here have reported sending their unit back to Alpine for repair. I think it's in the $300-400 range.

You may want to contact Alpine and see if they can assist you. They repaired my nav drive after my screen went black. Worth a shot.

Drive is shot. You need a new one. You can try Alpine or find a working used one.
