The noise is hard to describe, but I would say it's like a groan/rattle. It's not real loud, but noticeable. It's most likely to make the noise when making a wide turn left from stop and persists for maybe 5 seconds. But, sometimes it doesn't make the noise. Since it seems to come from the right side, I've thoroughly inspected the parts around both wheels on that side, but nothing seems amiss.

Hoping someone has encountered this before and knows what it is.

a groan while turning idicates power steering.
check power steering reservoir and fill if needed. also, the power steering pump eats internal seals after all these years and maybe letting air into the system. and if it's not either of those, it maybe the steering rack
