Latest MID Service

This seems a bit overkill. We have about 30,000 miles on our 2013 AWD Tech. The MID just came on and the required services are A. Change the Oil. OK 1. Rotate tires, OK. 2. Replace Air Cleaner and Pollen filter (which I did myself 6 months ago), OK. 3. Change transmission fluid and transfer case fluid. WHAT! I have never had a vehicle that wanted that done in only 30,000 miles. So they say the MID saves money on uneccessary service. True or False? I do most of my own service but realistically can't do that. Any comments?

Personally, I think it's a good idea to change transmission fluid every 30K, especially if you do any towing, have a lead foot or do a lot of stop and go driving. Heat kills ATF and it deteriorates over time, the hotter it gets the faster it goes south. I have a friend who owns a transmission shop, he said if people changed their fluid more often, he'd have far less business. I don't care what other manufacturers say, some say 150K(Ford) some say lifetime, if you plan on keeping the car, no matter what brand, change it every 30K.

The "lifetime" fluid is meant for the life of the transmission, not the life of the car. I do think that 30k miles is too soon, but it does need changed at some point. I'd probably change it more in the 50-75k mile range, depending on driving and weather conditions.

honda is known for less than stout automatic trannies.
I would change the fluid, because fluid wears, much like oil does.
if the fluid thins and creates friction, BOOM, tranny troubles.
