Last year I purchased a 2014 Certified used Acura rdx awd. I just received the Vehicle registration for renewal and was surprised to see that it's Vehicle type is considered a Wagon and not an SUV. Is this correct?

The RDX (and even the MDX) aren't SUVs and they aren't wagons. They're crossover vehicles. Typically, an SUV is a body built on a truck chassis and a wagon is a sedan that has a trunk that's extended to have a tailgate.

There are many crossover vehicles nowadays, such as the RDX, which blur the line. Most DMVs don't have a special classification for these crossover vehicles, however. So I think it's pretty common to see them classified as wagons.
