window chrome molding removal
does any body have directions on how to remove and install the chrome molding at the bottom of the window of the exterior of the rdx? The car was on an incline and the when i opened the door it swung open and hit the car's side mirror denting the molding. I'm surprised how flimsy it is. I went to the dealer and they wanted almost $200 to replace it. Id rather just buy the $40 part and replace it myself.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I see the need to DIY but I couldn't understand how you damaged it. You're saying when the door opened, the mirror hit the window molding..??? But the mirror is attached to the door and opens with it. Can someone explain it to me please. Thanks.

I suspect the mirror folded in and when it hit something moved beyond where it was supposed to stop and struck the molding next to it. A photo from the OP would be great!

sorry you guys...i'll post a picture when I get home. basically its the circled portion below:
chrome molding below window
So what happened is when I opened the driver side door after parking on a sloped parking lot, the door continued to open and hit the side mirror of the car adjacent to me. The impact caused a dent in the chrome trim at the bottom of the window of the RDX. I already ordered the part and i'm having it shipped to the dealership but I would rather save on the cost of labor and do it myself. Does anybody know how to remove this trim piece?

Without going outside to look at the RDX, I am pretty sure you can just pry it off with a small flat blade screwdriver . It might be helpful to take an old screwdriver or a butter knife and curve/bend the end of it. Luckily you dont have to worry about damaging the moulding. Wait till you get the new piece so you can see how/where the mounting clips (or whatever) are located. Sorry I don't have firsthand experience on this, as thats what you were looking for....you could also drop by an auto glass place and ask them if they would be willing to take it off, they are used to doing stuff like that and have the tools...and be sure to show them the new moulding.

if you have a harbor freight near by they have the plastic pry tools to remove molding. its in the auto section and less than 10 dollars.
I would imagine you roll your window down then start prying from one end. you might be able to bang it back into shape if you are careful about removing it
