Who's interested in a LED conversion package?

I have been trying to figure out the right bulbs, color (xenon, natural white, warm white...), and lumen, and it's driving me crazy! So, I am going to contact a couple of vendors and see if they can put together an interior and exterior package for the RDX.

Are you guys interested? Maybe I can get a better deal if we have a larger order?

LED tails and turns might be nice, as long as they're plug-n-play and not too pricey.

Count me in!
I'd like the internal kit to be ~3,500 K color temp.
Nowadays, warm white is 2,700K and natural white is 5,000K. I'd like something in between.

I would be in, as long as the proper load resistors are in place so they do not throw error codes or hyper blink.

I don't think Acura will do it but if it is possible I would like to see them offer a retro fit option for the new Pearl LEDs for the models that were not offered them from the factory. This would probably cost $500-1000 but when reselling the vehicle it is easier to do so if it is a dealer add on vs. a 1 off after market thing. It would probably require replacing the headlight assembly so they would need to design one that fits into the current RDX, TL, ILX head light assembly spaces and uses the same power voltage as the regular headlights. It would definitely help the used car market for these vehicles. I have seen a few companies offer after market lane change / blind spot add ons too so that also may be an option the dealers can do. Not sure the collision warning system can be done aftermarket since they are located in the bumpers.

iJDMToy replied to me last night and said they are working on a package for us. There will be two options: interior and exterior. I did ask them to also include a natural white (around 3000K) and a xenon white (around 5000K) options. My three other requests were to choose brighter (higher lumen) bulbs for the exterior and have the bulbs coordinate with the color cover (red LED for brake lights, amber for directional, etc), and to include load resistors so the directionals won't have the hyper flash problem.

Stay tuned...

It's crazy how much they are charging for these LED's. I replied and told them that their price is on the high end, hopefully they'll adjust it. In the mean time, I found this other site: http://www.lexenauto.com

They don't have all the LED's, but they have most of them. Our other option is www.superbrightleds.com

Let me see if I can get the latter to put together a package for us.

So... this is turning out to be a bigger project than I had expected. This is what I ended up doing:

I have ordered a bunch of bulbs from www.lexenauto.com with the discount code DEAL (or DEAL20), I can't remember right now, and got 20% off of the bulbs. I'll install them and see which ones fit, then report back here so you can get them if you want. The bulbs are "reasonable", compared to other companies, and I already have a couple of pairs from them and they are nice and bright.

Okay let us know how it goes. I actually have a lot of LED bulbs that I have bought for my other car projects, however haven't taken the time to access what is required and if what I have may work.

I have a full set of interior LEDs for my M3 that I decided I didn't like the look of (to cold), so really I would only want to do exterior upgrades to LED.

How is the fitment of the 12 LED panel in the cargo lights? Do you have enough room? Does it rattle? Did you have to tape it down?

@thephantom... Regarding the fit of lexenauto's 12-SMD panel in the interior tail gate locations, it fits surprisingly well into the diffuser housing. First I popped out the diffuser and removed the OEM bulb. Then I plugged the T10 adapter into the socket, connected the adapter harness to the LED panel harness and flipped the switch to verify operation. The panel can then be gently wedged between the socket/adapter body and the inside surface of the diffuser. There was no need to use the double-sided tape that was provided with the panels. And I haven't heard any rattling since the install.

@Mike_TX... LEXEN doesn't seem to apply a part number to these LED products. My sales order only shows the items by description. These are easy to find on the web site since they only sell a few types of LED lights in white or blue. Here is a link... http://www.lexenauto.com

Thanks, Silvermoon!

I received my bulbs today in the mail from www.lexenauto.com. They are individually packed in pairs or singularly, and I may try to install them today. The temp is 33f degrees so I'm not sure how long I'll last out in the cold.

Are there any technical reasons to go LED on rdx ? I have 13 with tech and not sure why I would want to go this route. Is this just "boyz playing with their toys" ..?

One tecnical reason is LED illuminates to full intensity faster than incandescent bulbs. LED where mainly brought in around the 90s as studies showed drivers braking response times where much better (faster) to LED brakes lights compared to fillement bulbs. And they can last longer in burn life.

That said for, me It's more boys playing with toys than technical. I like the look of LED exterior lights.

I see ... well I do not recall replacing bulb in any of my cars since middle 90s ...maybe I am just lucky ...I also am skeptic of "studies" as usually they are paid for inustry itself ..anyway I really dislike the look of LEDs headlights in Audis and new Accord so I am going to stick with what came with the car....

I've decided to keep the front of the car stock and just convert the interior and exterior rear light bulbs. However, I don't want to deal with load-resistors, so I am going to leave the rear blinkers stock.

I installed the center brake light, two tail lights in the hatch, and two tail/brake lights on the rear left and right panels. So far, I like the way they look. I have replaced/will be replacing the vanity lights, rear dome, cargo lights, and the lights in the two front doors. I am waiting on the map lights and that should be it for me.

If you are interested, here's what you'll need:

Exterior - Rear::

Center brake + both tail lights in the hatch (3 total): http://www.lexenauto.com/1PC-T10-30SMD-p/j.htm

Tail/brake lights (comes in a pair): http://www.lexenauto.com/T20-Dual-Beam-LED-p/k.htm

License plate lights (comes in a pair) pick one of two below (same as front door lights):

1. http://www.lexenauto.com/White-LED-T10-5-SMD-p/w1.htm

2. http://www.lexenauto.com/White-T10-12-SMD-LED-p/w12.htm

Interior::

Cargo lights (comes in a pair, same as rear dome lights): http://www.lexenauto.com/product-p/w2-1pc.htm

Map lights: (comes in a pair): http://www.lexenauto.com/product-p/w2.htm

Front door lights (comes in a pair) pick one of two below (same as license plate lights):

1. http://www.lexenauto.com/White-LED-T10-5-SMD-p/w1.htm

2. http://www.lexenauto.com/White-T10-12-SMD-LED-p/w12.htm

Rear dome (comes in a pair and the same as cargo lights): http://www.lexenauto.com/product-p/w2.htm

USE CODE: deal and get 20% OFF!

Hope this helps.

You asked, and we are free to like what we like

I like the look and I like the look of them flashing. They have a sharp cut off and on with no decay like typical filament bulbs. My M3 came with LED tails and I converted the rest over. It looks so killer to me, but that's just me

Here are a couple of pictures I took last night. One is with my phone flash and one without. As you can see, the lights are pretty bright.

With Flash:

I did not replace the signals because I didn't want to mess with load-resistors. I also have not seen the brake lights on (when pressed), but the brake light bulbs are dual filaments so they will get brighter than the picture is showing.

Yes, it is hard to tell the difference from the picture. Does it make a big difference after you changed to led bulb? Can people tell it is a led light bulb or just a bit brighter compared to the oem bulb?

FYI, I ordered this "complete set" and after 2 months the license bulb LEDs are dead:

iJDMTOY Standard Refractor LED Lights Interior/Complete Package Combo for Acura RDX
[Trims:2013-up Acura RDX (3 Lights)]
[Color:Xenon White]
[Optional:6K White LED License Plate Lights [SKU01]]
[Optional:6K White LED Vanity Mirror Lights [SKU20]]

It didn't include the vanity mirror bulbs.

You may want to ask if they've changed their products in the last 2 months.

The license plate Sylvania LED bulbs look great so far, they're pricy, hopefully they'll last longer than the cheaper ones. Much brighter and better light dispersion.

I did not purchase my LED bulbs from iJDMTOY as they were super expensive. I purchased the bulbs from www.lexenauto.com and they have been great! The cargo, puddle (door), and license plate LED's made a HUGE difference over OEM bulbs. The rear LED bulbs are about as bright as OEM.
