What RDX accessories do you have & why?

Hey guys. Just curious what little accessories or additional things you've added to your RDX? This can be ANYTHING. Myself, I am having 3M put on mine, the mud mats, a cargo liner (for the dogs) and then i'll probably get myself a cute decal of sorts for the back glass. The 3M and mud mats are important in Canada imo, haha.

Cargo tray was all I really needed. Also got a first aid kit. Both from oemacuraparts.com.
Just out of curiousity, what is 3M and where does it go?

Ya I went with the liner over the tray, because the liner hangs over the bumper so when my dogs jump in they wont scuff it all up.

3M is a thin, clear, protective film used to protect the vehicle. In Canada because of the winters and etc, there is times of year when there is rocks all over the road that other cars send flying towards your vehicle. 3M is usually on the front end only, as front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors. Additionally I added the door cups and the bit above the windshield before the sun roof.

More importantly, the liner flap covers the latch mechanism so there is less of a danger to furry paws. Also, folding the flap up when the dogs are in keeps them from bounding out uncontrollably when you open the liftgate. While some of that can be controlled by training, little can control seeing that squirrel on the other side of the parking lot.

I can fold the flap up? Like to block the tailgate when it's open?? I didn't know that! Even more exciting, because they are pretty well trained, but there is 3 of them, and yes if they see that squirrel.. lol. I was considering hooking their leashes to the tie down hooks, but if I understand correctly what you're saying, i'm even more excited about that!

3M is the brand name of the film. I have seen people call the product as "clear bra" for vehicles to protect the paint.

We too will be adding a clear bra as well as a cargo cover and all season floor mats but getting all this elsewhere much cheaper than dealer

I buy from the dealer but get employee discount through my connects so all my parts are a lot cheaper then others buying thru the dealer.

OEM options are always the best.

Accessory wheels, hitch, remote start, full wood add-one, mats, cargo cover - keeping it a long time, will get use out of or enjoy them all.

I have a lot of connections in the auto industries, so I went in with what I could get all that stuff done at for cheap, and they price matched for me. I'm happy with that because it saves me the effort of having to take it else where, everything will be ready for me when I pick it up

Sculldog, for the remote start accessory, I have a couple questions:
  • Was it dealer installed or did it come from the factory? (as a factory add-on)
  • Does it have the same key fob as if it came from the factory? (factory remote key fob seen here)
  • Any pros/cons to share?

im thinking about that.

the RDX actually came with the cargo tray, wheel locks and mudguards. so the only thing we added was the weathertechs and the sliding rear cargo cover.

Dealer installed, 2 fobs, works fine, just a little bulky.

I have a toddler, so I wanted to give the interior a virtual full body condom:

WeatherTechs
Rear seat cover
Cargo tray
Cargo Liner

So far, I'm glad I have all of those items. My thread about some of them is here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...sories-900572/

The dealer had already added wheel locks and was about to add the mud flaps, but I stopped him, as I despise those things.

I also had the front windows tinted.

I did not buy any accessories from my local dealer. They wouldn't budge on price at all, despite the online prices from other out-of-town dealers. Oh well... their loss.

Thanks Sculldog. When you say "2 fobs", is that one fob for remote start and one for unlocking the doors? (meaning you have to carry both at all times) Or are you referring to 2 fobs as in one fob has remote start + unlock doors and one only has unlock doors (as in how it comes if you have the Advance package).

I appreciate the response as we're trying to figure out if my wife has to carry 2 fobs at all times.

So it's a 2013, no factory remote start option. I have the main key fob from Acura, and an aftermarket one (has the Acura warranty) since dealer installed. The remote start fob starts the car, locks and unlocks the doors. Unlocking shuts off the car, and must be done or you get an error message in the dash saying there is an issue with the security system. 2nd fob is smaller, not really that bad, works well, good range, no cOmplaints. 2 fobs is a 1st world sort of problem.

"Clear bra" seems to be a funny name. May be they should give it for free in all women's clothing stores... .

Accessories:
OEM all season mats (needed in NY winters)
OEM mud flaps (needed in NY winters)
OEM rear seat cover (needed with young kids)
OEM cargo tray (needed to protect carpeting)
OEM Roof rack with cross bars (not needed just liked the look of it)
OEM sport running boards (useful for the little ones to get easy access to rear seat)
OEM Cargo Cover (for privacy)
Had installed 20% tint in front to help in the summer heat but got pulled over once and took them down. (no ticket just a warning but still I dont want the hassle)

Is the cargo cover easy to remove? I owned two hatchbacks in the 1990's and it was easy to pop the cover off when you needed to load something big in the back, but the RDX installation instructions make it sound like it's not that easy to do.

Any pics? Did you purchase of lease? I'm going to purchase and also want the diamond cut wheels but am wondering if I should sell the stock wheels myself or if the dealership will offer me a credit for them. What did you do? Did you order your RDX or take a stock unit and add the wheels?

No pics - yet.

A couple of items I forgot on my list.

Curt 2" hitch from Etrailer - Great people to deal with and solid, 20 minute install hitch.
1UP USA bike rack - had to have something to attach to the hitch

I purchased the car last Friday and everything (except a few of the LED's I had laying around, the hitch and 1UP USA bike rack) is still in transit from various online sellers. Should have everything by this Friday but not sure when I will be able to get by the installer for the wheels. But from seeing few pics online they made a huge difference in the looks and I really like the Diamond Cuts. Should have been the stock Advance Package wheels IMHO.

I'll probably keep the stock wheels in the attic as spares.

I bought all VLEDS for interior lights. I've used vleds on all my cars and I never had to replace one.
Here's the Vleds items:

Door lights - 194 5K WHITE 6 LED HIGH POWER 360° 180LM
Trunk lights - 5K WHITE 4 LED HIGH POWER FLANK BULBS 194 168 158 160LM
Vanity lights (sunshades) - 5K WHITE HI POWER 3 CHIP 2 LED VANITY SUN VISOR LIGHT BULB
Dome light - 5K WHITE 6 LED HIGH OUTPUT DOME LIGHT BULB 170LM 31MM 3175 DE3175

I haven't done the backup lights

I'm getting the same ones giovane has for the door and I'm going to try them in the license plate too. They should be here tomorrow or Friday.

For the reverse lights I'm getting 5k White 15 LED High Power 500LM. I have to back up at work to park in the morning when it is dark and am really looking forward to these but unfortunately they are back-ordered until the end of the month.

For the cargo I had a couple of panel LED's laying around that work OK. Probably not the brightest since they are pretty old tech but better than the stock incandescent bulbs.

Oh, I forgot. I'm also putting in a pair of Morimoto LED fogs to replace the factory incandescents Friday or Saturday.

Do not buy this... I paid $106 + $13 S/H for the cargo cover.. It is made from a cheap vinyl and would rip if you yank it harder than normal force.... The cargo cover from my ol' 2004 Mazda 6i hatch had a better quality cover than the RDX Cargo cover... And they were included in the price of the vehicle, not as one of extra cost accessories....

This is a pure JUNK. Even worse than MIC crap (Made in China). Can believe Acura would prodcue this kind of junk as their official accessories.
