Trade Time - 2008 TLS for 2013 RDX

Well...time has come...after 3 amazingly wonderful completely trouble-free years with my beloved 08 TL-S 6MT, I've got the itch to get into a 2013 RDX Tech. There are tons of pre-owned certified models everywhere at decent prices... so I've made a rather aggressive offer.

BUT this is subject to the deal getting approved so there's still a chance it won't happen....for now....

Let me tell you my experience at another dealership...the sales lady was clueless. Before coming to see her I gave her my history with acura.. i.e. 13 acura vehicles leased or purchased since 1999. Upon arrival, she tried to move me to a 1st gen RDX when I was intent on a 2nd gen. I lambasted her with "I had 2 of those, and I hated them - jarring stupid ride, pure garbage".. she was surprised lol.

...and if the deal happens, this is the gorgeous babe I'm saying good bye to... as tough as it will be...

Congrats on the new ride! I've been sedans most of my life until I picked up my first CUV in 2010. It was like "where have you been all my life?". It made life easier and added more family fun with the added flexibility in support of a certain type of lifestyle when you have a CUV. I find it hard just to drive the TSX other than back/forth to work only.

what a downgrade...

sucks to see a 3g TL owner go but that means that hopefully another owner will her right up and take good care of her!!

congrats on the new pickup!

I hear ya... I got all emotional and teary as I drove the TL-S to work today knowing its my last day with her. I've had 5 3G TLs since 2008 and its time for a change...but this Type S was pure 3G perfection. If I was rich, I'd keep her forever.

exactly what I've been thinking also... I'm in my 40s with a wife and 7yr old..it was time to move away from a sedan and into a CUV. I've had a very long love affair with acura sedans in general and hope it lasts with the RDX.

my history with ACURA:

1999 Acura EL
2002 Acura RSX
2004 Acura TSX - 6MT
2006 Acura CSX
2006 Acura TSX - 6MT
2008 Acura RDX - did NOT like the jarring suspension, gone in 6months.
2008 Acura TSX - 5AT
2008 Acura TL - silver
2008 Acura TL - white navi
2007 Acura TL - graphite navi
2008 Acura RDX - tried again and yet again, the jarring suspension killed it for me.
2008 Acura TL - silver navi
2008 Acura TL-S 6MT

.... and adding ....

2013 Acura RDX tech

btw wouldn't you want to private sale the TL-S? I'm betting you could get more money out of it

Did you win the lottery in 2008? lol

I hope you work for Acura because that's a lot of 2008 TL's...out of curiosity, why would you change your car so frequently...especially for something that's pretty similar?

... update ...

am really enjoying the RDX. still lots to learn on how to use the tech. still need to copy some CDs to the HDD.

and of course in keeping true to my ACURA obsession, have ordered a white 1:18 rdx DIECAST model ...should take about a month to arrive though lol.

it will go great with my fleet of 1:18 TL models.

price was $150cdn shipped.

Had a 2013 loaner. Hated it. No road feel, squishy, floaty stupid slip-n-grip mom-mobile. Pure garbage.

LOL anyway good luck on your offer. Yes, there are tons of 2013 lease returns out there, I'll be curious on how you make out.

PS - If you hate the 2013, don't buy a second one this time!

Hmm I bet! Lot of Acura dealers want these Type-S' on their lot, especially if it's a 6MT but a lot are overpricing them imo. I remember when I was shopping for the RDX they wanted me to trade in my TL-S but I didn't even bother with an offer haha.

Congratulations dude. Don't know why but your RDX looks so much better than mine (even though I have the same model) ...

this will be a 3yr vehicle.. will transition to the 16' when they hit the pre owned market.. NEVER buying brand new again.

I purchased my RDX and MDX used with around 30,000 miles and saved about $27,000 compared to new. The money I saved added some very nice upgrades like Hondata, ETS intercooler, roof rack, trailer hitch, etc... Honda/Acura make about the very best used cars if you like to rack up the mileage or keep for a long time. Some folks complain about Acura bland styling; but, it seems the conservative styling stands the test of time when you compare to other vehicle in the same time frame after +10 years. The 07-08 TL Type-S will still be a beauty and command high dollars for several more years.

^^ agreed. believe it or not, the goal for this one was to allow me to 'blend' in with the traffic...so no I don't mind the 'blandness' but with a few minor upgrades, the RDX will stand out..... got tired of ricer boys trying to race me when I was in the TL-S. Its all about being grown up/mature with a family and kids now...and this 2nd gen RDX fits the bill perfectly.
