Here is a request for a tip!

Has anyone figured out what to put in the small, odd-shaped opening on the back of the center console box? I assume this is where the rear AC vents would go, if they existed. If that's the case, it's too bad they didn't fill that hole with a small compartment having a door/lid, rather than leaving it open and odd shaped.

O....kay....Maybe you should have started by posting some tips and/or tricks?

@vbgregg - I have not found anything useful for that slot yet on a permanent basis. However, when i went to the drive-in movie and my wife and I were laying in the back, it was a handy place to put my phone/keys/wallet.

The best one that I've read on here is about placing the car in neutral before push button stopping the engine to keep listening to the radio after driving with the engine off. This is also useful for continuing a handsfree phone call.

I wish handsfree would at least remain on without the added steps as it did in my 2010 TSX.

Travel size pack of Kleenex in the back slot. Wish Acura would have put rear vents there or at the very least an extra USB plug for people in the back to charge a phone.

I think there was a SALE on those! Volvo added a similar 'tray' on the rear seat bolster, just behind the console. It's too shallow to hold anything securely, not tight enough for a drink cup or sippy box. Wouldn't hold change worth a darn and it looks like a throwback ashtray or something(plus it's where our little Scottie-girl's feet would go ). Now that I think about it, it really does look like one of those 'aftermarket' ashtrays that had the bags of sand on either side so you could just flop it across the transmission hump.

I don't care for that. I like to be in control of the vehicle. I had a mid-80s Subaru that had that feature(stick shift) and nearly got backed in to when I wanted my car to roll back a few feet to avoid the retreating vehicle in front of me...but nothing happened for a couple of seconds when I 'expected' my Subie to just roll out of the way.

Here's sort of an 'anti-tip'...
It is perfectly possible to lock the RDX with one key fob while the OTHER fob is still in the vehicle.

Don't ask me how I know...
...or why it happened when DW and I were swapping driving and moving/unpacking assignments and I left my fob in the door pull rather than smash it with various items being schlepped into the new townhouse....
...or how I found out this morning when already cutting it close to make the bike ride and DW had taken the other car on her morning routine...leaving me unable to even open the vehicle, never mind drive it!

(Sorry...a little tense from the move!!!)

We had 2 Subarus. I think they called that the "hill hugger" or "hill holder" feature. I did not realize that the RDX had it as well. In fact, I always figured it was meant for standard transmissions, so that you could transfer your right foot from the brake to the gas without rolling backwards (while your left foot was operating the clutch). So that feature is also on some automatics? In particular, on the RDX?

Yep I had it on my 2010 TL too and you are right it would be far more handy for a standard tranny. That said, if your good, just taking your foot off your brake at the right time and releasing the clutch works well.

Now that I think about it, my 1960 Studebaker Lark had that hill-holder feature. Everything old is new again!

I lament the demise of the hand brake...made taking off on a hill with a standard tranny a piece of cake! Also, made flying 180s a lot of fun!!!

My 2010 Subaru had it as well. I find it very useful while queuing up steep parking garages. The Subaru will hold indefinitely but the RDX only gives you a few seconds.

Not a lot of tips / tricks above, mostly likes/dislikes and comments.

Couple:
-- Pass thru air thru vents works fine without turning on fan if you direct airflow to face via mode button (thx to coach rick)
-- Regular gas works fine (i know, i know...but is does)
-- A circlular lidded Toyota ashtrey fits fine in one of the cupholders to stash change
-- Auto windows down function via keyfob works great on hot day as you approach RDX
-- Covercraft front sunshade from autoanything.com really does drop interior temp by 40 degrees at least (and the fit is custom to the model)

So I learned today that you do not have to have the car in a gear to switch from on to accessory mode. From Park, press and hold the gear shift button while pressing the start/stop button and the vehicle will switch from start to ACC. Sometimes I want the car on when I park and I forget to not shift out of gear, rather than putting added gear shifts in just to get the car in ACC, I can now do it from park.

I'm with you on this. I just wish it didn't disengage after a couple of seconds ... that way we could stay stopped on an incline without having to keep pressure on the brake pedal.

An alternative would be an electronic parking brake like I had on my Lexus LS460 - you could set it to automatically hold when stopped, then disengage when pressure was applied to the accelerator. It was great.

You are right it is dumb with no apparent use. Never even noticed it except I was vacuuming the floor and saw it.

Yep and I had it on my 2010 TL as well. I am sure it saves wear on your tranny.
