side view mirrors adjusting on their own

during backing up or after putting the car in reverse the auto mirror adjustment causes the mirrors to go up or down to the point where the mirror starts popping from exceeding the adjustment range. This happens to which ever mirror is set to be auto adjusted. do i have a bad mirror switch? car is out of warranty and i would rather not pay someone to fix this.

Most of the time the fix is to pop out the both mirrors and clean and re-grease. YouTube has a few videos (mostly MDXs) on how to remove the mirror and change out the mirror actuator.

I dont think it needs greasing. what ever is controlling the mirror is causing the issue. the lack of grease wont cause the mirror to fight the mirror switch when im driving down the road.

Old TSB for the 3G TL, but I do recall that greasing the actuator solves at least this problem

Here is the greasing link that apparently helped at least a few.

Guys I think he is complaining about the mirrors moving on their own more than the popping. What you should do is move your mirror selector switch (the one you slide to the right or left to select which mirror to adjust) to the center position and it should stop making the mirrors move when you reserve.

ok i was curious what would cause it to go crazy i might try another door switch and see if that works.

Do you see the mirror vibrating during those moments you described? I had a similar issue and the mirrors were replaced under warranty.

Mirrors are smoothe as silk and no weird noises but while driving it's almost as if someone is pushing on my adjustment switch. And causing the mirrors to tilt upward. Then a few times the mirror set to tilt down on reverse will keep tilting down until it starts popping. This happened when I picked the car up from the dealership and I had no clue what was happening and then shortly after my warranty expired
