RDX in shipment

Im currently waiting on my RDX to be delivered from the factory - getting an AWD Tech in the Southeast seems to be a bit of a challenge. The dealership tells me it may be in this weekend, but they do not know for sure. They have the VIN, they know it left the factory, but they claim that they have no system to track a vehicle between the factory and the dealership.

Is this true? Does anyone have any info or experience with Honda/Acura to know any different? FedEx can track an envelope around the world and Acura can't track an entire SUV?!?

Any info would be appreciated!

That is what I was told by my dealer. The factory ships to regional centers by rail. Then cars are trucked to dealers from the center. In my case the regional center is Seattle. I think Jacksonville is the center for the southeast. My dealer also had the VIN sometime before the car left the factory. I was told that they would have a better estimate of a delivery date after the car got to Seattle, but the next word I got was that the car had arrived at the dealer and would be ready the next afternoon.

Good luck and congratulations on your new RDX, Jim

I was told this as well, until I insisted that they contact the shipping company. Oddly enough they were just loading the vehicle on the truck when the dealer called them. We've all heard that before haven't we.

Just a followup with the time line I had for my RDX.

April 7 - Placed order and made a deposit.

April 11 - Told to anticipate an early May delivery.

April 21 - Received VIN number.

May 1 - Car at dealer.

May 2 - Took delivery.

Regards, Jim

I bought mine as the same dealership as mikejmack and I too was able to get some information about the location of my RDX. Now mind you, its not like a parcel in that in doesn't go through multiple processing centres but I knew when the vehicle had cleared customs and were in the shipping yard. I had an ETA for the vehicle and it came within the specified dates.

Not sure if this helps...
