RDX buying advice needed
I am looking at two RDX's at the same Acura dealer. 2013 RDX w/tech 37k miles asking 18,900., and a 2017 RDX Base with 33k miles asking 22,900. Both have excellent service record history. Any thoughts ??

You'll probably get more responses posting in the correct forum.
However, I do agree about not getting a base. I always buy the loaded trim. But I also keep my cars for a long time (15-20 years) so the extra cost is worth it. If you are the type who buys/sells cars every few years, it may not be worth it to get all the options. Also, with leasing, it's definitely not *financially worth it* getting options, because the residual on options is basically zero.

Considering both of these use the same engine 3.5L I would suggest checking stories behind VCM that this engine has - which ultimately produces vibrations in the car (given it is a V6 shutting down 3cyl while cruising).
From the pure aspect of quirks being worked out, 2017 is a better choice by far because they corrected many things that you will potentially struggle with the 2013 model.
I think you should continue searching for a model that is a tech pkg, but go for 2016+ year.
Also, look into VCM eliminator or whatever is called to try to manage VCM issue and vibrations.
Good luck whatever you decide.

I bought a 2013 tech today for $16900 with 65kmiles , feels like a brand new car I would never buy that newer base model version for more money, you can really tell it’s a base base inside even though that’s a good price for it, those engines feel a little bit quicker too. You will leave buying a warranty for either too buy the time you leave. Get the 13 for $17.500 if it’s previously dealer maintained.

I would opt for the cheaper loaded car too, unless you really like the LED headlights of the newer car. That’s basically the only big difference from the mid model update.
The 2013 tech model has HID headlights though, in addition to upgraded ELS audio and navigation. I know the nav technology is dated compared to today’s Apple CarPlay/android auto and many other cars, but it’s there if you want to use it.

Everyone has their opinions and preferences of course. Mine comes from the perspective of currently owning a 13 RDX-TECH and both a BASE model TSX and TL. I'm more about the performance and chassis than the advanced features...I guess that shows my age. The features which were included in the TECH pkg in 2013 which differentiate from the 2017 BASE model are not significant enough for me personally to choose the 4yr older vehicle. The only feature me or my wife would miss between the two would be the back-up camera.
Here's how they compare IMO
Navigation...2013 TECH is horrible...my wife still uses her Garmin. 2017 BASE doesn't have it. WASH
Back-up camera...2013 TECH has it, 2017 BASE does not. ADAVANTAGE 2013-TECH
Powered lift-gate...2013 TECH has it, 2017 BASE also has it. WASH
Console Rear Ventilation...2013 TECH doesn't have it, 2017 BASE does have it ADVANTAGE 2017-BASE
12v Outlets...as far as I can figure, both have the same # but that is not nearly enough...especially for the rear occupants. WASH
Fresher face with LED headlights (4 yrs newer)...2017 only ADVANTAGE 2017-BASE
HP/Torque...2017 has slightly more HP & Torque ADVANTAGE 2017-BASE

I decided to go with a 2016 RDX w/tech CPO with 41k miles. Price was 24,900. The only thing I don't like is lack of a spare tire. But the dealer is trying to take care of that for me.

Congratulations, that was a great choice. If you had got a base model you may be back in the forum within a month asking for how to retrofit the tech options to a base car. I’ve been there done that, seen too many people with buyer’s remorse and decided that it’s always best to get the higher trim if you have a choice. No one regrets and wishes for a lesser model but the converse is universally true.
