Of course if you pay $200,000 you can get a better car. But if we use reasonable judgement, the 2016 RDX Elite is the best vehicle in its class that's within a $10,000 to $20,000 price range. I'm talking overall. So this beast is better than vehicles costing $10-$20,000 more. That is incredible! Yeah the BMW X3 might have better turning around corners but the 2016 RDX has better sound system, headlights, way lower repair and maintenance costs, won't break down (german cars are notorious for breaking down after warranty expires), and the best resale value in its class. I can go on but you get the picture--reread the poem son!

The RDX is definitely a good value car, but as with almost anything in life, you get what you pay for.
German cars do cost more and are more expensive to maintain (in North America) but you get newer technology, better interiors (sorry but Acura interiors have fallen way behind), and a more prestigious brand recognition. An RDX is a luxury (some would disagree) SUV that has most safety and convenient features that most people would normally want.
As for reliability? I've lost my confidence in Acura's reliability. My TL had loads of minor issues and also had signs of transmissions issues. The RDX also is known to have some minor issues with the rear suspension. Acura's reliability in surveys has also seen drastic drops in the last few years (CR & JD Power) - this may be mostly from anecdotal surveys but it does show something.
The RDX is better than vehicles costing $10-20k more? I haven't heard anything like that yet from my own experience and from reading reviews. Reviews highly favour other cars in the segment, especially when price is not a strong factor. X3 and the Q5 are well regarded and they cost no more than $10k more for something equally equipped.
