Oil Life indicator

My Oil Life indicator changed from 100% to 90% at about 550 miles/3 weeks of driving my new 2013 AWD Tech RDX (85% city, 15% highway). With this rate, I guess, I'll need to do an oil change at about 5000 miles or 6 month.

I wonder what you guys are getting?

With my old 2004 MDX I've done oil changes every 7500 miles as was recommended in the manual. I was hoping that RDX would be similar, but apparently it doesn't look like it.

the MID is NOT linear. having the same system in both of my cars....lots of city will get around a 4-5k mi oil change interval. lots of hwy will yield longer intervals at 6-7k+ mi.

you are running factory fill in your new RDX...so give it a few changes.

the MID takes into account temp, start ups, environmental conditions, driving conditions, and a whole host of other factors that the fancy acura algorithim figures out for you as to when the oil needs to be changed. the system is generally conservative so even when you hit 0% there is still life left in your oil. if other acuras, this has been discussed quite extensively including the "if i use synthetic can i go longer than what the MID recommends." and NO your car will not know if you are using synthetic or not. i'm assuming the new RDX does not REQUIRE synthetic like the 1G RDX with the turbo.
